Would this do well to coat chain?

Asked by Ash April 12, 2021

We would recommend the 14.5 oz. product of Plasti Dip for an application to a chain, as it provides a thicker coating. We recommend testing in a small area to make sure it will meet your expectations.

Plasti Dip is not compatible with silicone, and can lift from the application surface.

Can I use it to blackout chrome parts of my truck?

Asked by Johnny February 5, 2021
3
Answers

Many consumers have successfully applied Plasti Dip to chrome on their vehicles. We recommend cleaning the application surface with a mild soap and water, to remove any dirt, debris, oils, waxes or grease, then allow to dry completely. We recommend applying at least 5-6 coats for vehicle applications, for best results and easier removal when ready to do so. Plasti Dip is compatible with most unbroken OEM finishes, but we always recommend testing in a small inconspicuous area to make sure it will meet your expectations.

is it heat resistant for plastic engine covers?

Asked by Sl550Driver January 14, 2021

Answer

Plasti Dip can withstand -30 to 200 degrees F. Anything above 200 degrees F will cause the product to melt.

If I apply this to my car wheels, will it peel off in the car wash?

Asked by Andy December 7, 2020
2
Answers

You may go through the car wash with Plasti Dip applied to rims or other parts of your vehicle. We do not recommend the wax feature, as eventually it will cause the Plasti Dip to soften on the application surface. We recommend waiting at least 7 days before going through a car wash, to be sure the product is securely on the surface.

Can you use this on foam?

Asked by June September 16, 2020

Plasti Dip can be used on some foams, however we do not recommend it on styrofoam. We recommend testing all applications in a small inconspicuous area to make sure it will meet your expectations.

I have some recycled rubber floor tiles under my patio. Can I spray this on them to refresh them?

Plasti Dip can be applied to rubber, however if the surface is going to experience high wear and tear, or a lot of walking on, the product will eventually wear away since it is peelable.

Waterproofing leaking duck shoes
Vendor no longer makes this particular model shoe. Use these shoes year round. Use them for traction on an asphalt roof (painting project). Use them when clearing snow. Use them for yard work. Use them when collecting composted cow manure for the veggie garden. Use them when mowing the lawn still wet with morning dew. One shoe started leaking through a toe seam. Plasti Dip to the rescue. Three coats with 4 hour drying time between coats. Preparation: Washed area to be coated with soap and water. Let dry completely. Used blue painters tape to mask off area to be coated. Applied spray liberally; thick applications so I couldn't see shoe texture when wet. Used paint stirrer to rest wet toe of sole on while drying on a plastic bag.

I had some water flow issues in my basement. I dug down 6 feet between my neighbor's house below my footing. ( see attachment ), I have a stone foundation. So I washed off the stone, re-tuckpointed where needed, let it dry and then applied the Plasti Dip. If you look at the attachment you will see standing water that is coming from the neighbor's house. It worked well beyond my expectations. It flowed on the stone foundation just like paint. I applied two coats and let dry, and as you can see the standing water in the hole, I have no leaks inside my basement. It is keeping back the flow of water from seeping into my basement. I am completely satisfied with this product and will be using it again if needed for other projects.

I tried vinyl first, what a pain! I had an extra can of Plasti Dip from an earlier project so I figured what the heck. I think it looks good.

I used this for an EVA foam mask I was making. Worked pretty well. It wasn't quite as rigid as I'd hoped, but I may have needed more layers to achieve the desired rigidity.

Great product
Primarily used the plasti dip to change the color of my stock aluminum rims. prep was extremely minimal with just taping off the center caps and lug nuts and placing a trash bag on the rotors. as for the product itself it sprays excellent and has a great consistency. Just be sure to place the cans in a bucket of WARM (not HOT) so the consistency is more even.if you are on the fence about using this for your rims, dont think just do it. I drive 500 miles a week and have had 0 issues.
