I chose a #8 x ?? cabinet screw, the washer style head one this Torq's drive screw seemed like a good match for the plastic-grip washer, but any flat head screw should work as well.

This is exactly what you need to install the 1"-2" thick foam panels to studs, sheathing, joists or rafters. Just insert your fastener (I am using GRK 2" screws for 1" thick R-TECH panels (you can use with other foam panels like the pink stuff or blue stuff) and install. What confounds me though, is that these are only via the online ordering. No stores carry this, but sell the foam panels. How are you installing foam panels without these fasteners?

I researched and found these washers for installation of 1" foam sheets in my new post frame building. I give the product 5 stars for making my job easier while doing the job more than adequate, in my opinion. Just put your board in place, slap the washers where you need them, and screw! NO HAMMER DAMAGE from missing a nail head!! Not an unsightly washer on my blueboard, (I used white washers..black are available from manufacturer). My only beef is that Home Depot offers them on their website as a special order item, only being available in a few stores, is my understanding. These are a bit more pricy than those ugly orange-washered nails carried in the HD stores, but they are well worth the extra $ if you are doing a neat job. They are quick, easy, not unattractive, and make the boards as secure as you choose. They can be used in other applications as well. IMHP, HD is doing themselves and their customers a HUGE disservice by not carrying these on their shelves. While at the store getting two loads of foam insulation, I could have bought these at that time, rather than research for them and wait for delivery. I did the homework for you, HD, now start stocking these for other individuals who don't want to miss the nail with their hammer and destroy their pricey new foam board!! Insulating is an investment. Making the job look good ads nothing but value.
