The 3-1/2 in. Plasti-Grip Plastic Masonry Fastener (PMF) is used to attach 1-1/2 in. to 2 in. rigid insulation or mineral wool to concrete or CMU block. Simply pre-drill a 5/16 in. diameter hole through the insulation into the concrete/CMU, insert anchor and tap flush with a hammer. This anchor provides a fast and efficient way of mechanically attaching insulation.

AnswerHello, typically we recommend about 1/2" deeper than the shank of the anchor penetration, on solid brick or concrete. So for a 3.5" anchor, a 4" deep hole should suffice. Make sure the dust and debris is adequately cleaned out to prevent the anchor from prematurely bottoming out.

These work amazingly well to hold something to a block wall. I used them to hold 2" rigid insulation up against a stem wall. One note, you MUST use the specified drill bit size (in this case 5/16") or they won't work. You also must make sure the holes you drill are clear of debris. I used a DeWalt hammer drill and the whole project went quickly.

So much better than the glue sold for the same purpose. Fast and effective. One out of 8 or 10 wouldn’t go into the hole and bent, causing the need for another one to be used in its place. May be lack of proper hole clean out. Will buy again and am recommending to other builders.
