No, it is not recommended to be used in an outdoor wood firepit.
I dont know any reason why you could not use these fibers outdoors. As long as there is a a rain cover over the pit.Im sure rain would either rust them or rot them......

I have an older Empire Gas Woodstove. The placement of my Log Set is key to not creating Soot. Will these Embers work without creating a Soot condition?

Without knowing which Empire Gas Woodstove is yours, I cannot determine if your stove is Vent-Free or Vented. Vented Gas Logs allow for various log arrangements due to the fact that they are designed to be ventilated through a direct vent or through a chimney. Soot and carbon are produced when a gas flame comes into contact with anything that changes the shape of the flame.
