The riser bar comes detached. So you won't have to use it. The height is 28 without the riser bar.. The height from the bottom to the top of the glass is 22 3/4". Issues I have seen is the way the screen doors pivot, not the glass.. As you open them, it pivots at the hinge about a inch inward. If your opening is too small, the screen when opening could hit your brick. It sounds like it should fit for what you are saying. If you have any concerns, the manufacture has an excellent video and info on their website plus other people have some videos on YouTube. Good luck! I've had mine for about 5 years and have been very happy with it.
Yes, has worked nicely in my gas fireplace for over 1 year now.
Without the extension that they supplied to add to the bottom, it is 24" high. I don't know how many inches that the extension adds at the bottom and I no longer have the extension to check. Go to Pleasant Hearth Ascot website. It is very helpful.
The medium gives you more viewing area. -GHP
Fits openings 36 in. W to 43 in. W and 25.5 in. tall to 32.5 in. tall. They sell three sizes with openings they will cover listed under additional details. It looks nice and well made. We’ve had it installed for about two years and have had no issues.

My inside measurements are 30" high, and 36" wide. These doors fit perfect!
The design of this Hearth is such that it mounts where the face sits flush on the fireplace opening edges with approximately a 2" overlap . The mounting hardware is inside the fireplace opening on the masonry walls unfinished side. So therefore your wood face frame will come in contact with the hearth outer edge.
I bought mine since 2018 but got it installed only early this year and I love it.
