Found a good selection at home depot and liked the fact that the cost is per foot. So they will cut it to length at the store and get only what you need. Used this wood for my cabinet doors as it is a hardwood and need that for the abuse they will take from my kids. So far the cabinet doors are winning!

Not bad. This yellowish/ green poplar, works well for painted face frames or structural applications when you need a board that can hold a screw well.
I rip the 1x4's down the middle and get two 1.75 in face frames out of each board. The 1x4 stock was $2.19 a foot so it does add up, but wasn't horribly expensive compartively to other material. Very few defects, few knots. A few pieces will warp or bow, but pretty good over all.
It gets the job done.

Nice and straight boards with clean edges and minimal flaws. I used these to build a baby gate for the stairs, in response to an 8month old boy making valiant attempts to climb stairs! Drills easy, looks great plain, easy to sand, and cut to size. Will definitely buy more for additional projects.

I bought this for a header board for some very heavy barn doors. The board was nice and straight and easy to rout a decorative edge onto. The only complaint were the few small knots on the board. Overall, it looks pretty good and does the job holding up the rail and doors.
