Q:Can this be used for a exterior fascia?
by|Nov 24, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Poplar species does not form a regular or durable heartwood. This puts poplar wood at a disadvantage for exterior work, where there is risk of getting wet and will cause decay over time. It is not a good choice for exterior use.

Q:Could I use poplar wood or purple heart for vise jaws? Was considering 2x4 pine but thought a hardwood like poplar would be better. thx

      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  Hard maple might be more common for jaw vises, but even some old reclaimed pine would probably be fine. More important that its flat and a stable cut of wood.
