Q:Seems like sometimes the self-propel function does not work. If you lift up the wheels they spin but when you put them back down it won't go forward. Most of the time it does work though. Why?

A:  If the machine is older, take it for service. First try the cable tension connected to the drive lever, if its not tight its not pulling the inner clutch far enough. Or check for stripped belts. Worse case it could be gear issues if the machine is old or you been too rough on it.

      by|Mar 25, 2021

A:  Sounds like a simple adjustment issue. Just like the handle brakes on your bicycle, sometimes you have to adjust them to make the brakes apply harder or with less Force. I have a feeling you're encountering the same issue, adjust the tensioner on your self-propelled drive and when you squeeze the handle that should consistently Engage The Drive. It sounds like it might have slipped loose a little bit or it wasn't tightened down properly to begin with so when you're squeezing the handle it doesn't fully Engage The Drive.

        Answer This Question

A:  It took about 25 minutes to assemble after freeing it from the container. It came with all the tools you'll need but I used my own wrenches and socket set to go a little faster. Just to let you know, this is THE BEST snowblower I've ever owned. It's GREAT! Strong, easy to use.

Q:Is the skid shoe supposed to be loosely attached to the side of auger housing or tightly fitted meaning bolt fully tightened?
        by|Jan 29, 2021

        Answer This Question

A:  Mine came with spacers so I could set the skid at various heights. And yes, it should be securely fastened to the housing.

        by|Jan 29, 2021

A:  Shoes should be adjusted according to the surface you will be using it on and tightened in position.

          A Beast in Sheep's Pricing
I live in Mammoth Lakes, CA. We just had a ten foot snow storm. Yup - you read that correctly. After some settling - there was about seven plus feet of snow on my deck. Last October I bought this Power Smart 24" Snow Blower. My deck is about fifteen feet by ten feet +/- so I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a super dooper deluxe unit ... so I bought this one instead and hoped for the best. The description sounded good. I have another larger snow blower for my other areas so ... I figured ... this little guy would be ok. BOY WAS I MISTAKEN This little puppy is an absolute BEAST. Yes, I had to hand shovel some (not all) of the mountains of snow down to a smaller size ... but this magnificent blower actually tried to crawl up the massive piles of snow and blew that stuff thirty or more feet from my deck ... just like it said in the brochure. And it NEVER got tired. I never write these reviews because I typically don't have time ... or the desire. But I am making an exception for this glorious snow blower. I wish that I could show you the hilarious video (one minute long) that I shot of the deck clearing. Perhaps the photo images below will suffice. Thank you Power Smart Peter

            The skid shoe is bad.
I bought this in 2018 but never used it due to no snow past 2 years. I used it first at storm GAIL and this blower is garbage! Hard to maneuver. Forward gears are slow. A turtle is faster in reverse mode. The gas handle gets stuck so be careful. Most importantly the skid shoes bent on first use. Very disappointed! Overall I do not recommend to anyone.

for the price range, it's fantastic. has a few features and the chute does work well, I was concerned reading other reviews. it does what I need. I live in upstate NH, near the canadian border and have a double wide, long driveway. instead of a plow, I'm using this. so far so good 2 storms in. I am going to get a generic windscreen for the inevitable blowback.

Seems like it will work well but like the other people posted, the handle to turn the chute gets stuck and hard to turn brand new out of the box. Tried greasing it up and same issue. It will work ok but if I had to re buy one, I would pay a little extra and get one without that problem

                  Junk, don't buy PowerSmart
If you look at the bottom pan cover there is gaps to let water, snow, slush in that make the the drive plate wet and causes the friction drive belt to slip. Thus, IT DON'T GO ANYWHERE! That makes it completely useless. I purchased this in 2020 and very disappointed.

Worked like a champ season1. Easy start. Doesnt have throttle control but, that’s ok. Cuts through 6in of wet snow, powder 8in like butter. Packed iced snow it works but it becomes a laborious task-at 6 in. Its loud, I didn’t see a muffler- no biggie. Over all this is a tough and rugged machine.

It performed well during this winter, easy electrical assisted starter, heavy but the motor moves the wheels properly so it could be used by anyone. It’s extremely noisy and the chute deflector control cable failed sooner than expected. I am still waiting to hear back from the manufacturer to get my replacement cable. The e-mail received says that will take longer than expected to get an answer (?!)

Response from PowerSmart SupportMar 5, 2021
                    Hi Dcc~

If operating your 24" unit in wet, heavy snow, this puts a great deal of torque on the auger system, in particular the auger belt.

I would suggest purchasing a product called Snow Jet, which is a polymer coated spray that prevents sticking snow. It works like a champ and have used myself.

                    Keeps the snow throwing...and far.

                    I hope this helps.

This saved the day for these recent snow storms. We have a short drive way but it made all the difference for the end where it piled up 3ft high.
