Q:I am looking for a good all around generator that I can also use with our camper. Some camp grounds have noise restrictions and would therefore require a "quiet" generator. The description doesn't discuss the noise level - any information would be great

Answer This Question

A:  Since each application is unique, we are unable to properly size a unit remotely. We do have a sizing calculator online that can help you get an idea on what generator may be needed, but we strongly recommend working with a dealer to ensure the proper generator is picked. Our sizing calculator can be found here: https://www.generac.com/for-homeowners/home-backup-power/build-your-generator, and all of our local dealers can be found at www.generac.com/dealer-locator. Because there is no industry standard way to measure sound output on portable products it makes it very hard to compare brand to brand. Generac does not list the specific decibel level for our portable products for this reason. This is an open engine similar to a lawn mower so it does not run as quiet as our automatic home standby generators, is comparable if not quieter than most other brands.

Q:Why would trying to operate a CPAP trip the GFCI with the 7500 generator?

    Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question. You would need to check the starting watts and running watts of the machine. As well as other items that are connected. If the pull is higher than the generator capabilities then it would not be able to support the demand. Also, please ensure that the generator is not being used in a closed space.

Q:How many decibels does this model produce in noise?
      by|Sep 8, 2021
      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question. We do not have a decibel rating. The noise level can be impacted by the environment. Such as the machine being on a concrete slab vs being on dry grass.

        Great portable generator!
We are very thankful we have this generator by Powermate! The PM7500, 6000watt generator was delivered on a pallet in great condition. Opening the box, it was easy to assemble within a short amount of time. The generator started right away and is easy to operate. The handle and wheels make it easy to move around. We live in a rural area prone to power outages that can last for days. We have an older small generator that could not keep up with our electrical needs. Having this larger and more powerful generator will allow us to keep our home warm, the food cold, and the well will still pump water.

        Works great
This generator works great and has enough power for our needs. There wasn’t much to setting it up. The directions are printed on the box and only took a couple minutes. It was easy to fill with the gas and it started right up on the very first pull. We are hoping to wire the house so that if the power goes out it can run everything but our AC units. I like that it has a handle that pulls out. It makes it much easier to wheel around and maneuver. Overall it’s a great generator.

Very quiet, runs smooth, Made by KOHLER !
I was very pleased by this generator and even more pleased to find out that the motor and generator were made by Kohler, their reputation is super. They make the best emergency power generators. This Powermate is rugged, all I had to assemble was wheels and a handle. I added fuel, oil and turned it on and it started on the third pull, after that it took only one pull on the starter rope. I plugged in to the 220 30-amp plug that was connected to the power panel on my garage and started it up to warm up, breakers off. Then I walked to the main panel and turned off the main breaker so I could power everything from the generator. I waited 5 minutes for the pressures to go down in the refrigerator and then flipped the 30-amp breaker on the front of the generator. Everything in the house and garage powered up so I turned on a few lights in the house and garage and the generator just purred. 26 amps on the clamp on amp meter so I am set if we ever have power outages like last year when it went out for a week. Now I have to make it a house.

        Great for Occasional Power Outages
For disaster preparedness and other power shut downs, I have been looking for a generator that would provide power to run the refrigerator, lights, and miscellaneous small electrical needs. This PF4500 meets those needs at an affordable price. It has 4500w startup /3600 continuous running power. It is powered by a “Generac” 224 cc OHV engine. The 5 gallon fuel tank has a fuel meter and provides up to 19 hours runtime at 25% power. I like that there is a fuel shut off valve that will prevent gas from sitting in the carburetor after it is shut off. From a safety standpoint, it has COsense technology that is supposed to provide protection from the carbon monoxide hazard. (of course the generator os supposed to be run outside, away from the house.) Boxed up when delivered, it weighs over 100 lbs. so I needed to use a dolly or have 2 people to move it prior to set up. It is easy to put on the wheels, feet and handle. The wheels are study so it’s easy to move around once set up. The assembly instructions were simple for me in the manual and also on the duplicated on the box. Once I added some gas, the engine started on the second pull. The off, start, run control is easy to understand and follow. We were not looking for a unit that could be switched into our circuit breaker box, but this unit will allow us to manually hook up power to refrigerators and light sources. It can be used to power portable power tools such as a portable table saw and a circular saw. Overall, it is a great, reasonably priced generator for campsite, emergency use, job site, recreation, or tailgating. I feel a bit more prepared for an emergency, especially since we are prone to Earthquakes and some general stormy weather. Three Year Warranty

        Solidly built and easy start
This generator is designed to provide up to 30A at 120V continuously, surge up to 4300W. The first impression of this device is very good. Solid construction of frame, generator and gas engine on solid engine mounts. It is easy to move around on two wheels and stays put during operation due to large rubber feet. Starting is easy. Start/stop/choke, outlets and breakers all on a single side panel. Fuel valve is easily accessible, so is the air filter – make sure to close the fuel filter after use. We used ethanol-free gasoline to avoid gelling of older fuel, alternatively you can use a stabilizer, at a certain concentration. We find it more easy to keep ethanol-free gas on hand for small engines. We opted for a pull-start, electric starter is an option. During our tests (total run time 1h) it started mostly on the first pull, cold (down to 12F) or warm. Testing included idle run, checking the output to be stable to better than one volt. Load testing: Measuring on the second outlet under 40% load (resistive) on the first outlet: voltage drop by less than 1V, 80% load: drop less than 2V. To see how it responds to a load change we used a 10A circular saw while loaded at 40%: the engine quickly settled on the proper rpm after a brief change. All these results are excellent, in my book. The 20A outlets are GFI protected, a grounding rod can easily be connected to the grounding bolt. This model is a 120V only generator, which is sufficient for projects and emergency operation for a few devices. If you plan to wire it to a transfer switch in your home, a larger model in the same series provides 240V output to provide power to well pumps and other 240V appliances. It is important to familiarize yourself with the operational dangers, especially CO produced during engine operation, so the built-in CO sensor is a great safety feature. The manual warns of overloading, which should be considered carefully, as the sum of currents from the three breakers is 70A – much more than the generator is rated for. You are safe if you only use one outlet at a time (20/30A), if more than one outlet is used, you must keep track of power consumption, there is no over-all power limiter. As for any generator, consider the gauge of the extension cord. Stranded wire has different amperage rating than solid wire, plus for longer runs, wire gauge vs voltage loss should be considered. We like the solid built and performance of this generator as well as the model line-up, but do not have any experience with longer term usage.

What a wonderful find – a generator powered by Generac, the best at building power units for RVs and houses needing electricity! We suggest that you keep the large parts-assembly drawings that are printed on the outside of the shipping box; those are clearer than the drawings inside the instruction booklet. Weighing almost 200 pounds, we assumed that it would be difficult to connect the wheels and leg supports, but it was simple to tip the POWERMATE on its edge to do so. Although crescent wrenches are included, we found that using #10 and #13 socket wrenches made assembling the wheels and handle much easier. It is very comforting to know that reliable power will be available when the next hurricane hits our town!

High quality generator; this generator provides all the power I need to run my tools (like my compact table saw) from a work place other than my garage. Other generators I have used struggled to keep up, but this PM7500 is a beast! The fact it has a 30 amp 120V/240V connection allows me to use it with my RV and power tools easily and provides plenty of power. Having a CO sensor is nice, but I do not expect to use it indoors unless absolutely necessary (which I never anticipate having to do). The fact that this is made by Generac (a name I trust for generators) give me the peace of mind that it will last. It is big (about 30” by 26” by 25” tall) and very heavy (almost 200 lbs) making it not very portable, but the wheels make it easy to transport around the garage and yard. Having four 20 amp 120V outlets is also nice. It is extremely simple to operate; started on the second try. The power dial feature is very nice; pretty much anyone can start it easily. I am so confident in the reliability of this generator I am planning to have someone come in and look into wiring up an emergency bypass for my house in case of power loss. I highly recommend this; I expect to get many years of quality use out of it. This gets five stars across the board from me!

This home, emergency use generator has enough power to get you through loss of power from hurricanes, or other storms and for job site use. It is loaded with features that make it user friendly. It has 4 120V outlets protected by two 20 amp breakers and one 220 4 prong locking outlet protected by a 25 amp breaker. All of the outlets have rubber, tight fitting and water resistant covers that seal out dust and moisture. There is also an hour meter to keep track of the use hours so that maintenance can be scheduled as needed. There is a fuel gauge on the fuel tank to alert you when refueling needed without removing the filler knob. Below the hours use meter there is a large red knob to adjust for cold starts. The unit has a folding handle that allows for east movement, but stows compactly within the profile of the generator. The generator is powered by a General 420 cc, OHV motor.

I got the generator set it up and noticed mine did not come with CO-Sense, also i was hoping it was at least 30amp plug, but it only comes with 20amp twist lock , ive seen smaller generators wire higher amp connection. So it is lacking power options. Very heavy , easy assemble i do like the large tank capacity. Started first on the first pull. I tested a large miter saw and it didn't hesitate to run it
