The motor on this lathe has a screeching sound from zero to approximately 100 rpm. I called the Powermatic technical unit and they said the sound is normal. I’m very disappointed.

Amazing lathe!
This was an upgrade from my Jet 1440 and man, what a difference! So well machined and smooth as silk! My Lathe came with a power cord, just no plug. Easy to set up and a dream to use!

Great Lathe
I bought this lathe in June of 2018. Its a great lathe, heavy duty and lots of power. The only thing I don't like is the centers do not line up perfectly. If I drill a hole with 1-1/2" Forstner bit the hole ends up being 1.560" No matter what I do it doesn't get any closer than that. I called tech support but did not have much luck with him. At that time I said I wouldn't buy another Powermatic. The only time this matters is when drilling a hole from the tailstock. I got over that and yesterday bought a PM2014 lathe. I had a original 3520 that was made in America and it was perfect. I went with the 3520C for the new changes. I did not want a A or B because of the tool post clamp.

Mark - Thank you for all of your feedback! I'm forwarding this on to our product & engineering team to see how we can address your issues on the accuracy of the drilling from the tailstock! Also we'd love to hear what you think about the new 2014 lathe when you get it! It is one of our favorite products right now!
