11 oz. Spray Windshield De-Icer with Scraper Top

A:  This product is meant for use on Ice and snow that is present on the vehicle. With that being said this product does have some Ethylene Glycol, which helps with breaking down the frost and ice, so it will not quickly evaporate. It should aid slightly but is not intended to be used in the way your are asking. For a spray that goes on prior to snow/ice/frost build up I would recommend looking for Prestone's Ice and Frost Shield product.

A:  It won't help with what you want. The product is alchohol based so it will evaporate in a few minutes after applying. One solution that would help is to use one of those snow blankets to cover your windshield prior to it snowing. Note: if it rains, then freezes, the snow blanket will get frozen to your windshield so keep that in mind.

A:  I have left the spray in the car's trunk in the past when the temperatures were below freezing. Recently, there were issues spraying after leaving the De-Ider in the trunk. I decided it would be better to keep it in the house or in the back seat of the car rather than the trunk.

A:  Yes, I believe it will be ok. I have these Prestone cans in both my cars in the truck and leave in during cold winters and hot summers and haven't had any issues. The cans hold the pressure and work fine. I like this brand because the spray nozzle doesn't clog up. I've used others and thr spray nozzle stops working after a few times. Not these Prestone's. They work great!

A:  I don't know for sure, but I would be extremely careful and research the de-icing products to verify they can be used on polycarbonate windshields like Lexan. I would definitely not use an ice scraper on a Lexan windshield as it could scratch it. You should call the Lexan mfg. and ask which de-icers are approved for polycarbonate windshields. Make sure you speak to someone in technical support as well as try to find some written documentation on their website to double confirm. Using the wrong de-icer product can ruin polycarbonate windshields so it's very important to do thorough research. Best of luck to you!
