Simple, Silent, and Effective
I spent an hour wandering around Home Depot trying to find a solution to keep a basement door that opens into the hallway closed. I compared magnetic options as well as other automatic closure devices. I stumbled onto this product, and found it to be tied with magnets for the cheapest option, and much more effective. Not only that, but the installation is easy and the mounting is discrete. I went back and bought a second one to keep the adjacent bathroom door closed.

Really perfect for our needs although the instructions were partially incorrect. You don't attach it to the jamb. You attach it to the casing in normal door construction. If I had known that, I would have bought the brown version to sorta match the wood. The door I attached it to and the jamb are white. We bought this to automatically close an inside door that the kids were leaving open. I haven't said, "Close the door" once since I installed it. At $13 it's dirt cheap but does the job. The tension adjustment works great. I could choose a really soft close or move it to the next position for a firmer close. I added little stick-on buffers to the jamb and removed the latch assembly to keep it quiet. A really good value for this application.

I used this two months ago on a lightweight vinyl screen door that opens inward. It closes with a gentle thud and stays closed except in very windy conditions. Much, much better than the spring-loaded hinges that I've used in the past.

This is a good closer for light inside doors but...
This is a good closer for light inside doors but doesn't have enough oomph for heavy outside doors.
It is well made and really easy to install and a great solution for keeping inside doors closed.

No. Just no.
I had high hopes for this closer. Unfortunately I was let down.
The install super easy. It will not, however, completely close my exterior door. The more it gets used, the less tension it has and I just installed it.
It’s going back to HD.

Effective but loud
It works pretty well and it wasn’t hard to set up. It does what I need, keeps the pantry closed so my dog stays out of it. It loses a star just because after a few months it got loud. It’s beyond just a little squeaky, it’s straight up loud. WD-40 fixed it for a little while but it came back just as strong a few weeks later. I’m keeping it because it works, but it’s obnoxious.

It’s very easy to install but it’s just not strong enough to close the door all the way. I already have it adjusted a lot where the springs are making this sound like it’s going to snap from the pressure. I’m probably going to remove it coz of that.
