      Answer This Question

A:  After reading info on these two products, it seems they are identical except for the size of container. Both are used for the same purpose, so it appears they are the same, performing the same purpose of cleaning the water softener brine tank.

I have not used RES CARE liquid water softener cleaner very long but I am expecting better quality softening and extended life from the resin in my water softener by using this product. I am going to dispense the product, 4 ounces, myself periodically since the automatic dispenser is costly at $130. That is the reason I gave this product 4 stars. I will update this review after a few months.

Not really sure how to definitively rate this because I didn't do a before and after water analysis. That said it does seem to have made a difference. My system is fifteen plus years old and appeared not as effective as it once was. But degradation was slow over time so really hard to really tell. I ran it through two regeneration cycles over two days and now after about two weeks I don't see the white residue being left as I was. I think it's worth trying if you have doubts about your system's performance.

Home maintenance is probably one of the most effective ways to keep all of our homes, & it’s devices in good working order. Often some of our most important devices get overlooked when it comes around to doing cleaning & other routine maintenance chores. A home with a water softener is one of those easily overlooked home devices. It sits back & quietly filters our drinking water & provides a normally much softer water environment that is good for our plumbing, sudsy shampooing & a host of other benefits. Normally we just add salt pellets when the tank is low & let the softener go about its business in the corner of the basement or garage. Often the softener goes through its regenerative cycle which cleans out the resin bed, which in turn, cleans & filters our water. After extended use the resin bed loses its effectiveness & becomes fouled with iron & other contaminants. This fouling decreases performance & effectiveness & reduces the whole reason why you have a water softener in the first place. ResCare is specifically formulated to clean, restore & extend your water softeners resin bed. ResCare can be directly added to the salt tank when the salt is low. Directions call for a one half cup of Res Care added per approximately one cubic foot of resin. Note: residential softeners contain approximately one cubic foot of resin in the tank. Directions call for normal applications be supplied to resin at each regeneration. The first time I heard of ResCare was when a neighbor had a problem with his softener and the maintenance man used this product. I asked what it did & he said it really worked well in increasing efficiency & adding to overall life of the unit. One of the very nice properties of the maintenance product is that there many YouTube videos that show how to use this product properly. One video showed how to use and install an automatic dispenser for ResCare, so it automatically dispenses the product when call for so you personally don’t have to remember to add to the tank when called for. I think that the popularity of the product speaks for itself, just do to the available video that have been posted. ResCare is readily available at your Home Depot store

Res Care is the number one all purpose liquid resin water softener cleaner. Cleans out your water softeners resin while maintaining the performance of your water softener. My 2 quart cleaner is a back up bottle for use with the low cost, easy assemble, no wire Easy Feeder. Personally highly recommend, you really need to consider the Easy Feeder Res Care can be poured directly into the brine well or directly into the salt tank when salt level is low, half cup per cubic foot, our home water softeners would require this amount but check your manual to confirm. Pro Products has sincerely simplified keeping water softeners cleaner and running more efficiently.

This Review is for the Pro Products Res Care water softener resin cleaning solution. The simple process of your water softener doing a regeneration every week or so puts sodium from the brine tank into your tank resin where the sodium removes the calcium that makes the water hard and the result is soft water. The calcium is then flushed down the drain. While this process removes the calcium, it does not remove the iron, manganese and other elements and minerals in your water. These minerals adhere to the resin beads, coats them, and can greatly reduce their efficiency. Hence a #1 rated product like Pro Care's Res Care. My water softener is about 8 years old. It's been trying to soften the very hard water of the Southwest Metro-Phoenix area. The last time I used a titration test, an accurate chemical test, to measure the hardness of my home's incoming water. It was a very elevated 37. My softener could get it down to 1-2 grains, which was wonderful. Then it stopped doing that and the best soft water I could get out of my softener was 17 with the incoming hard water remaining at 37. It got worse after that and stopped softening water. Examination revealed a salt dam in the bottom of my brine tank. Google it. I fixed that, cleaned the brine tank, added new salt and ran two regenerations. The best I could get my soft water down to was 14. Something was still not right. I then came across Res Care, a cleaner for my resin media. I read a lot of reviews that were very promising. So I bought it and using the Res Care Auto Feeder tube, attached it to the outside of my brine tank and the wicking worked, putting 1 ounce of Res Care into my brine tank well once a day. I wanted to kick start this cleaning process, so following related videos on Res Care, I poured exactly 4 ounces into the brine tank well and hit the regeneration button. I let it run through it's cycle. I then repeated this process. 4 more ounces and a regeneration. It can't hurt anything and the idea here is to clean the resin beads. After the 2nd regeneration was completed, I turned on the water tap closest to the water softener and let it run wide open for 5+ minutes to flush the lines. I have had no after taste from using Res Care and I drink my tap water all the time and love it. I put the system back into the auto feeder and let it run for a few days. I then retested my water. Besides now being again able to feel the slickness of soft water, my hard water test was now 2 while my hard was remained 37. It appears this process is working well. I would highly recommend this product. Water softeners demand maintenance and it's nothing that the average home owner can't take care off themselves. I highly recommend this product.

Pro Res Care 64 oz. is an all-purpose water softener cleaner that is used to protect your water softener when used on a regular basis. It renews and maintains your softener and it rids the softener of contaminants salt alone can't remove. Pour 4 oz. (½ cup) per cubic feet, then manually regenerate the water softener to clean resin. As simple as that, Res Care down the brine well of the water softener, your system does the rest. It restores the softener beads and control valve parts back to peak efficiency and maintain the life of the unit. I would recommend Pro Res Care.
