I got this heater to help take the edge off of the cold in my garage during the winter. First thing I notice was the convenient the size and weight. Without the propane tank installed, the base folds up to reduce the footprint for storage. The base folds down to support the weight of the tank when it's installed and has another wheel for stability. I was reading about the ODS oxygen system which is suppose to shut it off if it depletes the oxygen in a room so I'm not really worried about working with it on all day in my garage. It did take a while for the propane to work it's way through the lines the first time so I was beginning to think there was an issue but it worked great after that. One thing I found odd was that there are three heating elements and it controls the heat by the number of panels it uses. It always uses the center panel as it is where the igniter is located.

The Protemp 18,000 BTU Radiant Propane Cabinet Space Heater in Red does a great job maintaining the temperature in my shop during these 40 degree winter days. As with any heater with a flame proper ventilation is needed during use. That being said this heater does a great job for my needs. The heater is adjustable and has 3 settings. Each setting corresponds to a section on the heater. You can have one, two, or three sections lit depending on how much heat you need. The heater is built to have a 20 pound propane tank on the rear of the heater. See pictures. Always check for leaks when using your heater by using a soapy solution. The heater is very easy to use. Once you have the pilot light lit you can then decide on which setting you want to use. I really like this heater and have used it everyday in the past week.

I have a detached garage that I sometimes need to work in. I have a torpedo heater that works for quick warm up, but it is to noisy when working. This heater does a good job of keeping me warm while I work. As a radiant heater, it heats me, instead of the entire workspace.
The heater is light - a full propane tank weighs more then the heater. It has heat output controls, but not temperature controls. The control consists of how many of the three heating panels are operating. At one only the center panel is lit. On two, the left and center are lit, and on three, all three panels are lit.
There is a delay between when you turn on a panel, and when the panel starts glowing and putting out heat. So don't panic when you turn it on and the panel doesn't glow at first. If you look close, you can see a small flame on the panel.

The PROTEMP 18,000 BTU RADIANT PROPANE CABINET SPACE HEATER, RED is a very nice Heater and is a little over 21 inches high, has a fold out platform with a steel cage for the Propane tank and the platform has a wheel under it which is handy. The Metal box of the heater is pretty thin and may not take any abuse and the wheels too are a very small plastic composition that seems not too rugged for the cost of the heater. It has three ceramic heating elements and works really well. The igniter is very loud when igniting the heater and has a loud "click" when working.

Heater was shipped in a timely manor. When I first looked at it I thought wow this is like a Mr. Buggy heater that I use for hunting in a blind. FYI I was using this to heat a garage with the doors closed. The hose is a little to short for putting a propane tank in this unit. First time starting it was a hassle. But after several attempts I got it to light. Started up then went out after getting the 2nd porcelain to light. After several attempts to light again all was well till after 5 minutes later is turned its self off for no reason. After playing with it to light once again I lit up and went out again after 2 minutes. This has to be the worst propane heater I have ever had. I would stay away from this unit for the price they charge for this .

This time of the year in my shops office can get a bit chilly. This ProTemp 18,000 BTU Radiant Propane Cabinet Space Heater is the perfect solution for my heating needs. I use propane heaters throughout my home and they provide a warmer feeling like wood does so I needed a heater that offered the same feeling I was used to. Upon unpacking, I liked the integrated handles for carrying and the three position heat settings. If used carefully, propane is an efficient and portable solution to one's heating needs. I do recommend safe operation around pets and children and plenty of ventilation. The wheels offer a easy placement around the room and the units bright red color says "caution". I am extremely pleased with this ProTemp 18,000 BTU heater and at this price point feel it is an excellent choice. A very nice product.

This is a great heater for my workshop. It is easy to set up and easy to light - no matches required. It is easy to roll around and has locks/brakes on the front two casters. It has three heat settings and, according to the instructions, has a maximum run time of 69 hours on a full 20 pound propane tank. The heater has a compact stable design and has a safety cage around the propane tank.

This ProTemp 18,000 BTU radiant propane space heater is a great little heater. I was at first concerned that it was radiant and had no fan. However, it really puts out the heat and since it does not need to be plugged in, it is really portable. I plan to use it on our covered back porch. It remains to be seen how it works in the light breeze but I'm hoping for the best. Assembly was non-existent and it worked right out of the box.

The shop building is four hundred sixty square feet and has inefficient electric heat; this Pro Temp radiant space heater does the job. Being on wheels and having the propane tank sitting on an integral platform directly behind the unit makes it real easy to move around as needed or move it out of the way when not needed. The ceiling fan runs in reverse so that the heat is drawn upward and bounced off the ceiling, dispersing it around the shop. I did insulate the shop walls and ceiling such that the building never drops below 40º at night during the winter with no heat on. This unit warms the building in a short time so that I can get more than a month out of a tank of gas. Love it!!
READ the directions!!! Initial start up takes some patience, but after that it is a breeze to get the heat going and it warms quickly!
