Q:If each rise is 6.75 inches, and it's a 4 step stringer, how do we get a "product height" of 47.71 inches? 6.75 x 4 = 27. What am I missing?

A:Â 4 steps (treads) equals 5 risers. There is always 1 more riser than there are treads.

poor quality stair stringers
I purchased these pre-cut stair stringers. They are garbage made with poor qaulity lumber. I should have bought my own wood and taken the time to cut the stringers myself.

Unsafe they are not consistent in size
I bought 11 of these only to discover that the dimensions of each one were different. Maybe 5 of 11 were making contact with the steps carrying load. Besides being impossible to build straight stairs they are unsafe.

Great for those who don't want to mess with calculating rise and run. Convenient. Even as a template to cut your own. One of
the stringers was trying to split. Had to pre drill and screw it. Otherwise dimensions were consistent.
