Believe the Bad Reviews
Since there were a few reviews of these post caps that were positive, and hoping to save money, I went ahead and ordered two 6 packs. I should have believed the bad reviews. Only 2 out of 12 were at all usable (and those would have required a ton of caulk), but every one of them was defective in some way. All had gaps where the mitered corners were supposed to meet, but most of the gaps were HUGE. Also, some of the tops (including the two that had smaller gaps) had very jagged edges on the tops where chunks of wood had been ripped away. I've started the return process. I don't know why Home Depot would sell such an inferior product as evidenced in these reviews.

i ordered 18 IE (3 packs of 6) they came loose in the box.when i got to installing them i should have paid more attention upon receipt. many of the remaining were also in poor shape.... namely the top cuts. there are wood tear outs that lead me to believe the tool that was being used to cut them had gone dull. many of the tear outs a deep and as much as a 1/2 in wide. i cant sand them out as the top detail is only 1/4 in depth. it was disappointing to say the least.

Worked great
Used these on a new fence I built. I was going to make my own till I saw these and for the price it was a no brainer. Fit perfectly on my 6x6 pt posts.

The tops are very poorly made. They don’t look professionally done. Some pieces were falling off. Very rough woodworking. Not recommended.

terrible post caps
Product came in pretty bad shape weathered sun marks and the top flat part was all split out at the corners and the miters around the base were all not tight it just does not look like picture.

They where in pretty rough shape and had chewed marks...
They where in pretty rough shape and had chewed marks from the saw. Was not happy but couldn’t find a different kind so I puddy and sanded the best I could so I could finish the project.

4 of the 6 were in good condition -- the other two needed to have the bottom part adjusted. I simply removed and nailed back on. Most of them were smooth, 2-3 of them appeared rough cut (perhaps the tooling to make them was dull). Overall worked well enough. They look great on the 6x6 posts.
