Frame is both aluminum AND a ferrous metal
Carefully read through the Specs, selected this attractive outdoor specified "ALUMINUM" wall lantern and bought 4 for assumed long life on my home's exterior. Installed easily. With normal curiosity I touched a magnet to the various metal framework pieces. To my dismay, the most important framework that touches the building and the portions that are exposed to the weather elements on the top of the lantern are NOT ALUMINUM, but a ferrous material that a magnet vigorously stuck to. See the two photos of magnet showing this. Very disappointing to have an unexpected structure property be an iron-based metal that will corrode, rust, and deteriorate much more rapidly in the Florida weather than aluminum.

The fixture consists of a black painted body, a glass cylinder and socket ring. The cylinder is open on the bottom and capped on the top with a hole for securing to the porcelain socket using the socket ring. The black painted housing has a round hole in the bottom plate, which allows access to clean the inside of the glass cylinder.
Installation was very straight forward - a mounting strap with threaded nipple and finial knob are included but screws to attach the mounting strap to the electrical box are not provided – if you are just replacing an existing fixture, the existing screws should work. The fixture is secured to the mounting nipple using the included finial knob

This is a nice stylish light built with good quality material. The metal frame is sturdy and has a round cylinder glass globe instead of the usual flat panel glass inserts. So it looks nice but not the same old styled lights usually on houses. The glass is clear so it puts out lots of light. Where we live is really dark at night. If you follow the directions it is very simple to install. If you are not comfortable with that it shouldn't cost to much to hire someone to install it. I will be purchasing two more of these lights for the front of my house.
