Safe for inside fireplace doors?

Answer This Question

Can you use this on an outside wall?

Answer This Question

Hello Help, 2- It can be used, but it is not labeled for thermal (R-value) and would need to be cut to size to fit between framing. Not recommended for the exterior side due to all the seams that it would have- much easier and more effective to use full sheets. Thank you for your inquiry!

I am removing the skylights from my roof, and having the exterior holes shingled over. I would like to use foam board insulation on the interior of the old skylight wells, then drywall to cover the holes. Can this product be used for that purpose?

        Answer This Question

Hello MPR2023, While there is not a specific reason not to add Foamular to this cavity after you have replaced the roof sheathing, our recommendation is to use the same insulation in that skylight cavity as what is in the rest of the cavities around it. Thank you for your inquiry!

          Answer This Question

Hello Tami, Owens Corning does not test adhesive or canned spray foam; we would suggest checking the labeling and verifying the adhesive is compatible with extruded polystyrene. Please see link for our technical bulletin. https://dcpd6wotaa0mb.cloudfront.net/mdms/dms/EIS/10024851/10024851-Compatible-Adhesives-for-Foamular-and-Foamular-NGX-Techical-Bulletin.pdf?v=1621929051000 Thank you for your inquiry.

            Answer This Question

Hello Uncle, Owens Corning Foamular can be used on the exterior of a block wall. Please note the Foamular cannot be left exposed to UV rays as it will slowly degrade over time. It will need to be covered to be protected from the UV rays. Thank you for your inquiry!

                Excellent Material with Multiple Uses
I bought this to box our in-wall air conditioner during winter but found a couple other practical uses for these panels: With Velcro wall adhesive strips, I secured three panels to the wall above my desk for a cheap pin board. The offcuts for the air conditioner project were perfect 6”-6” squares that will be used as the base for clay miniatures. The ease of cutting (couple passes with a fully extended Xacto blade) makes this material ideal for prototypes and modular ergonomic design. I’m currently propping up a floppy textbook with a couple 6” squares with a 2”x18” strip of the panel right now. This is really helpful in design, when you need to test out the physical needs before committing to building. It also reacts well to adhesives; I tried Velcro strips and “Ultra Bond” craft glue (pictured) with 100% success. Because of the density of the material, cutting leaves no particles and makes it ideal for personal projects. It’s lightweight and strong, which are excellent traits for miniature model building supplies. These panels have immediately become an indispensable material to keep in stock at home.

Bought this to insulate a cavity housing a water pipe in the garage. No R rating value listed or printed on panel. Easy to score or cut with utility blade. Wish it had a foil side for fire resistance.

                  Great product for tight spaces!
I bought this to fit into a tight crawl space opening..it was easy to cut to size and put it in place. I placed some caulking around the edges and when I checked back 24 hours later, the ambient temperature was 20° warmer then the day before! This will definitely save me quite a bit in heating costs in the years to come...

Great for insulating window air conditioners
I came across this material after doing some research on YouTube to better improve insulation around the window A/C units. My summer electric bills were three, almost four times what they were in the fall and winter months because of the brutal heat. After evaluating several Home Depot products, this seemed to be the most economical since I would not need to replace them every summer when its time to put the A/C back in the windows. I was able to get by with one sheet for three windows which made me extremely happy and better yet, the next day with 92F outside, my home remained a cool mid 60s temperature inside. It did a fantastic job of keeping the heat out and keeping the cold air in. They were also very easy to cut to the exact dimensions I needed. A ruler, a pencil and a carpenters knife. I made the portions 1/4 of an inch wider than I needed and squeeze in the small cut out of foamular to make an airtight fit. I did not even need tape to hold them in place. The tension between the A/C and the window frame held them in place. When the fall arrives and its time to remove the A/C units, I will label the cutouts to match them with the A/C so that next year I will know how to install them correctly. I love that they resist moisture, mold, and mildew. They are very economical and they kept my home much cooler. I set my A/C unit thermostats at 68 and they cycle on and off when needed. Mostly off at night because the foamular maintains the coolness in the evenings. Great product.
