Re: Protectyte Miterless 4 in. x 4 in. Untreated Wood Flat Slip Over Fence Post Cap with Copper Pyramid, Wood grain/100% Copper. We used to get these in 4x4, but you do not currently show them on your web site. Are they still available.

What thickness/gauge is the copper?
20 gauge
what are the exact inside dimensions of the cap? my post is 5 5/8" square. will this cap fit?
The cap fits posts 5-1/2 in. to 5-3/4. in actual size.

How should I clean the copper before applying the lacquer?
Typically cleaning is not needed however if you want to clean first then you can use any standard copper cleaner cream to polish the copper lid. CAUTION: Make sure you let the copper product completely dry before applying any spray. If you do not let completely dry you will most likely get "bubbles" in the over-spray.
How do I treat the copper against discoloring?
We do not officially recommend any specific spray to keep the shine HOWEVER, a company named McMaster.com has a clear lacquer spray for metal that works for us. Remember we Do Not Officially recommend this spray. Part number is 76885T75. Hope this helps. Just make sure you don't spray when it is humid outside.
