The video does not show how to put on the base it shows after not what to do for the tight fit

Hello Sir, You need to slide them in from the top if the post is already install, otherwise from the bottom if the post isn't install. When the post are brand new, they are still filled with chemical product ( pressure treated ) which is why they are inflate like that and there's an tight fit. When the post will "dry out" and the chemical and water will get out it will fit perfectly. We cannot make the Base to fit over "inflate" post as they will fit too loosely when the post will dry out. Anyhting else, please let us know by email : info@pylex.com or over the phone : 800-264-1881. Thanks

How do you put them on the 4*4 post

I used a hand planer on the four bottom sides, 10 inches high after removing about a 16th of an inch I was able to install from bottom up since it was tight it stayed up while I fastened to deck with optional base plates.

reading a lot of the reviews, has the manufacturer done anything about it not fitting a 4x4 post?

Answer

Hello, When the Base 44 doesn't fit over the post it is simply because the post is "yet" of chemical product ( pressure treatment ), water or anything other product with make the post to inflate. If we make the Base 44 to fit over "yet" 4x4 post, the post will come loose as the post dry out. Anything else, please let us know. Thanks

Good and bad
They look great but are too small to fit in 4x4 post without some work. Hard to believe they wouldn’t design them to fit what they are meant to cover.

Response from Pylex Customer ServicesMay 13, 2020
Hello Sir,
The reason why the Base 44 inside diameter is fit on 4x4 post is simply because overtime the 4x4 will dry out and will shrink.
If we do design the Base 44 to fit 4x4 post when "wet" once they dry out the post will be loose in the Base 44.
Anything else, please let us know.
Thanks Pylex

The post base was used with the additional plate underneath. The combination of both provides a sturdy post on a porch or deck using treated wood. I used pressure treated posts. I had to trim the bottom 10" by 1/16" on two sides so the base would fit. It worked out well.
