Good and bad
They look great but are too small to fit in 4x4 post without some work. Hard to believe they wouldn’t design them to fit what they are meant to cover.

Hello Sir,
The reason why the Base 44 inside diameter is fit on 4x4 post is simply because overtime the 4x4 will dry out and will shrink.
If we do design the Base 44 to fit 4x4 post when "wet" once they dry out the post will be loose in the Base 44.

The post base was used with the additional plate underneath. The combination of both provides a sturdy post on a porch or deck using treated wood. I used pressure treated posts. I had to trim the bottom 10" by 1/16" on two sides so the base would fit. It worked out well.

Useless with a 4x4
They are 3.5 x 3.5 they will not fit any normal deck post! Dont waster your money and DONT expect the Home Depot persons to know this as they are the ones who recommended it and who said it would fit.

Hello Sir,
Lumbers in the lumberyard are still filled with chemical, so they are more 3-5/8" x 3-5/8" ( or more ) in the stores. After a fews days the chemical from the wood will come out and then the post will dry out back to 3-½" x 3-½". Anything else, please let us know. Thanks

Hello Sir,
4x4 post when in stores are fill with pressure treated chemical product. The diameter of these post are more likely to be 3-5/8" ( or more ). When installed they will dry it and comes closer to 3-½" ( or so ). We always recommend to let the wood dry in a dry space for 2-3 weeks before starting work, so that the chemical has been remove from the post.
Anything else, please let us know. Thanks
