A:  I actually have not tried it on plates, however if you need to drill a hole though china, this is probably your best bet. Success is going to be determined by how well you can support your material, how thin or fragile the material is and how steady you can bore through the plate. If you take your time, do not use a lot of force, and let the tool do the work, I think you will be fine. If you do give it a try, let everyone else know how you made out.

Used this product exactly as instructions recommended on porcelain tile. Did not even make a dent in the face of the porcelain. Water irrigation system dripped way too fast and needed to be refilled frequently. Good in theory, just didn’t work. Also since the plastic box irrigator is basically glued to the wall there is no way to check your progress without ruining the sticky pad.

Thank you for your valuable feedback. It will be reviewed to improve the quality and performance of this product. Typically, this kit is ideal for cutting 1/4 inch holes when installing towel bars, soap dishes, shelves, cabinets, and shower door frames. -Alexis, Customer Care QEP
              Got the job done
I had 10 holes to drill in 3/8" impervious porcelain tile with a glazed face. It took me maybe 2-3 minutes per hole of actual drilling. The idea is good but this is a cheap system that is really just enough to get you through. My Wife helped me by pouring water in the delivery cup while I drilled. The doubled backed tape didn't really hold while getting wet. And the plastic sleeve the drill bit goes through don't stay in place. I don't regret this purchase because it's cheap and it got it done. It is easier with two people.

              Excellent product for porcelain tile!
We were almost finished with our bathroom remodel and realized a regular ceramic tile bit wouldn't cut through the porcelain tile. It made installing the towel rack brackets a breeze! Thanks Home Depot for carrying this product in stock!

              Mine worked great!
When i needed a drill for porcelain shower tile to install grab bars, shower fixture, & shower door frame I found this drill at Home Depot. Read the reviews about drill life bieng short so I bought 2 kits. I was able to drill all 26 holes required with one drill however. I did need the 2nd kit because there weren't enough double stick tapes for the water container (they become less sticky and in a few holes won't stick any longer). Anyway, I had good luck, just followed directions on packaging. I would buy these again.

              Terribly cheap product
One of the worst "tools" I've EVER purchased from HD! Bought 2 and both bits were useless after 3 holes.
