Questions & Answers

Will this blade cut thru glass tile?

Asked by: Bob
It did not do well cutting thru my ceramic tile. I only needed a small square cut and blade was dull before I finished. Would not recommend for thick ceramic tile.

Can it cut through granite, marble, quartzite?

Asked by: Graider
Thank you for your inquiry. We have tested our Diamond Edge Blade on both Granite and Marble and can recommend that the blade can be used to cut through these products. However, the blade has not been tested on Quartzite so we cannot recommend the blade for this product. If you have any further questions please call our Customer Service (866) 435-8665. Rated 1 out of 5 by from Useless My experience mirrors that of HenryO's. I used this to cut a 5" semicircle in a piece of porcelain tile, using water as lube/coolant, and the blade was completely and utterly worn smooth by the time I had finished the cut. I had to return to Home Depot to buy another blade (Bosch, this time) to complete the job. An utter waste of $12, and it is vastly inferior to the 6" carbide-coated rod blades which are 1/4 the price of this blade, but which Home Depot does not sell anymore. I am very disappointed in Home Depot over this - you should be selling what WE need, not what YOU want us to buy.

I was going through a bathroom remodel and had to cut a circle in a porcelain tile to go around the toilet sewer line. In past, I did it with my tile saw but it took forever to make multiple passes of straight lines. I saw this and thought, perfect, this should save a lot of time. It was totally worthless. I used water as a lubricant and have this in my 19.2V portable jig saw which I use for woodworking and cutting thin metal. I could not make it even 1/4 the way through the circle before the blade was completely worn and smooth. Total waste of 12 bucks. Just threw it right in the trash can. I ended up splitting the tile in half and making the circle the old fashioned way with my trusty tile saw.

Did excellent job of cutting 12" X 12" X 3/8 inch thick very hard ceramic floor tile. I was looking for a diamond blade for an older jigsaw that used a U-type blade, and did not find one anywhere. I bought this in the Home Depot store. I watched a U-tube video that showed using a water bottle to cool the blade, so I used an ear syringe to do that, and the blade worked perfectly. I bought two blades just in case one did not work to cut two tiles. I needed to cut about six inches on each tile in a curved pattern (see photo). Cooling the blade seemed to make the difference. I was surprised how exactly it cut. Go slowly. It worked perfectly. Did not need the second blade and the first one showed no wear. I bought the T-type blade but it fit into the older Black and Decker jig saw (which I bought in 1969). This floor tile is so hard it melted a bit used to drill some holes to install grab bars, so I expected problems with the jig saw but it worked very well. Could not be happier with the results. Just cool the blade with water and go slowly.
