Answer This Question

A:  I would not try that. It has nothing to do with this blade. But this is a wet saw blade and should be used with a wet tile saw. Without the water this blade will heat up pretty quickly and the blade will not work well. Additionally I’m not sure a circular saw would fit the blade unless you removed the guard or would have enough rpm’s to cut. I think that you could rent a cement saw from Home Depot and have a better chance. That would work and the price is probably comparable.

A:  This is a fine blade, for sure! I use mine for granite, tiles, and even glass. To make a good cut of 3/8" on a mounted piece, this is more about the saw than the blade. Research this online. Attach a fence to the granite! If possible, use some water while cutting - but, go slow!

Q:Can you cut quartz with this blade?
    by|Dec 6, 2020

    Answer This Question

A:  Yes. That said most wet saw blades of this type will. Quartz and granite are fairly similar on the relative hardness scale. Granite is similar to porcelain and ceramics. This blade, I found to be "okay". It cut great, as they all do, at the beginning of use. But with the big porcelain tile job that I had, I didn't think that it lasted an exceptionally long time before dulling. It did okay for a reasonably low priced blade.

A:  I dont believe so. If the blade is to thin, it mat warp from the heat.

I bought this blade as a replacement for the original Ridgid that came with the saw based on the reviews. Right out of the box the blade was chipping my porcelain tile much worse than the blade I was replacing. Up to an 1/8" chip!! Definitely not what I expected based on the reviews. I will be taking the blade back to the store today.

I am not a contractor. I am a mosaic artist and I use ceramic tiles. I have a time and hand saver (using nippers) technique where I cut narrow strips of tile which I then used to nip into squares. But I realized that I could cut the squares on the wet saw. What I like about this blade is that it is narrow and does not remove as much material. It is also quieter than previous blades I have used. I am not sure how it would perform on thicker floor tiles and because it is such an expensive blade, I would switch blades before I cut heavy tiles. This is my second black widow. A friend cut heavy tiles with my first black widow blade and though it still cut, I felt the cuts were not as clean. I also make sure it does not sit in water and I oil it after every use to prevent rust.

The blade cut 12"x24" porcelain tiles very easily, almost like cutting wood with a regular saw blade. I have not seen any dulling of the blade during my use cutting the tiles for my bathroom.

              Excellent blade
We used this blade for cutting Marazzi porcelain tile 24”x6” with tile bull nose and for tiled splash wall. The blade did excellent job, leaving behind nice and smooth cut. With this blade we cut opening in floor tile for toilet drain (pic 1). For smaller curve cuts this blade is too big. Pic. 2. shows cut in tile for water and drain in vanity cabinet. In kitchen splash wall tile (pic. 3.) we used it for cutting openings for electrical outlets and lot of cuttings of this ceramic tiles. The blade did it's job on excellent. Even now although all worn out it still cuts the tile well, just not with perfectly smooth edge like before.

              Works well
So the blade works really well. I had originally intended to use this blade with my Dremel ultra-max saw, but the arbors didn't match. No fault of this blade, mind you. This blade comes with built in reduction bushings that take it from 5/8 to 20mm to 7/8. The dremel saw uses a 7/16 arbor, so it was too small. Ultimately, I chucked this blade up in my Shopsmith and it worked great. The cut finish is really nice too. I used the old trick of taping my cut path out of habit. That has proven to keep from getting chipping at the edges which is super important for tile work. Overall, I like the blade. I'll get the bigger version next time.

              Cuts tiles like butter
Not that I was unhappy with my current Qeb brand cutting blade that came with my 650 XT I bought at Home Depot as it was doing a pretty good job but as soon as I installed and cut the first tile I knew this wet cutting blade was going to be a fantastic addition to my cutting needs. The Black Widow Diamond Blade cuts like butter no chipping, no breakage. Great blade fast cutting and smooth..

Great Diamond Blade for Porcelain and Ceramic Tile
Need to replace my 7" Diamond Blade for cutting Porcelain and Ceramic Tile. I using it to cut subway tile and the cuts a minimal of chipping. Compare to my other blade the Black Widow cuts were smoother and was were noticeable. I purchase other blade that wobble and this Black Widow was wobble-free when cutting.

              Great blade--reduces chipping
Smooth fast cuts, but the real improvement was the reduced chipping. I have typically used the discount tool store diamond blades for my tile saw. I had thought the small amount of chipping was caused by the belt or motor vibration. However, I was rather surprised with how much this Black Widow blade reduced the chipping. For both porcelain and granite the smoother cuts were noticeable. I tried my best to take pictures of this, it's obvious on the porcelain tile, but harder to see on the granite. For only a few dollars more this blade is certainly worth the reduction in aggravating chips. Now I have to buy the 10” version.
