Q:What type of tape should I use to help protect tiles from scratches when using this tool?
by|Jan 21, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  You can use a strip painters tape along the edges of your tile to protect the surface from scratches. If you are looking for extra protection you could also tape down some cardboard. Customer Care

Q:I have 1/8" grout joints that i need to use this in. Will this fit in an 1/8" joint?

      Answer This Question

A:  I've used it with 1/8" grout lines without a problem. I taped the adjacent tiles to avoid scraping those that I didn't want to remove.

      by|Apr 6, 2024

A:  A single blade clears approximately 1/16 in. W grout joints. Use more than 1-blade at a time for wider grout lines.

        by|Mar 16, 2024

A:  It's about the size of a thick razor blade not quite sure my grout lines were pretty thin and it worked fine , I'm sure it would work you could try it and return it if it doesn't just keep your receipt and the paper it came with

          by|Feb 2, 2022

A:  Not very well, the blade are very thick. You might run the risk of chipping the tile.

Q:So why has this tool never had its screw problem fixed? I have read reviews that covered six years and the same thing is said over and over. QEP must be a very poorly run company if they can't fix a screw even though they have been told it was a problem for so long.

This grout saw works as described. The hand is a bit comfortable to grip but probably not for a big job. The two different saw blades did the job but I wished that the bolts didn't stick out so far. It is hard to get into tight areas.

This worked perfectly for removing the grout from some tightly connected tile. It came with two different blades unlike the other choices of tools. The narrow one with teeth instead of the bumpy abrasive one worked for the narrow gap I needed to clear.

This grout removing tile will probably do the work on 1/4 inch grout spacing but did not fit in 1/8 inch grout spacing for me. Most of my installs require 1/8 spacing and I find it more helpful to use a utility knife or a triangular shape grout cleaning tool.

Thank you for your feedback. This grout removal tool is designed with 2 carbide grit edge blades to work with various grout joint widths; use 1 for narrow wall grout lines or use both for wide grout lines. It provides great leverage for stripping, cleaning and removing old grout. -Alexis, Customer Care

I found this a good tool to assist removing grout on a glass backsplash BUT it will scratch the glass so you need to be careful. As others noted the screws could have been better. One screw was fine and one would loosen from time to time. I took care with the screws and all went well. For my purposes I could only use one blade at a time due to the width of the grout. I also found the blades to be pretty durable and was able to return my backup pair. Note: Originally started with the professional version of this tool (#10092Q) but it was too wide for my purposes. The professional version has a better build so if it fits I would get that one.

I installed large format 12" X 24" marble tile with 1/16th" grout joint. The saw did a good job on the thinset but with the close joints had a tendency to nick the tiles. Just be careful.

I bought this product to remove the thin line of grout between my bathroom tiles. It is packaged with BOTH blades attached to the handle. I only needed the thinner blade. I made very sure that I got the correct Phillip's head screwdriver to remove the screws to remove the unneeded blade. IMPOSSIBLE! I finally got one screw out without damaging the head of the screw too badly, but the other screw is STILL in there. The head of the screw has been completely obliterated, the screw is still firmly in place, and I cannot even use this new tool. VERY DISAPPOINTED. DID I SAY VERY DISAPPOINTED?? VERY DISAPPOINTED. Guess I will have to get the drill out and DRILL the screw out. Maybe I will be able to use it. Of course I will now have to go find and buy new screws to hold it together assuming I can find two that will fit it exactly. Did I mention that I am VERY DISAPPOINTED in this product?

Great tool to remove grout from tile
I used it to remove thin set from between the tiles when we installed it and grout that didn't set right. Ease of use was great, not much effort.
