Adjustable Desk Mount Dual-Power Outlets with Dual-USB 3.5 Amp Charger and Dual-CAT6 Ports

A solution for those who do not have a dedicated workspace and have need to frequently plug in power supplies (chargers), computers, printers and the like, the usefulness of this accessory will depend upon the users’ number of connected devices, configuration of plugs and blade mounted power supplies (“wall warts”) and the physical properties of the surface it is to be secured to. Solidly fabricated from aluminum extrusions and a polymeric escutcheon/end cap assembly, the device provides two (2) parallel blade, grounding type receptacles (125v, 12 A total), two (2) 5v (3.5A total) USB charging (only) receptacles and a pair of RJ45 “feed through” receptacles. A flexible, heavy duty power cord (actual usable length 9 ½ feet) is provided, terminating in an angled head, parallel blade grounding type 125v attachment plug cap. The angled head plug will minimize interference with other plugs in a typical duplex receptacle but may also require a sharp bend in the power cord depending upon the orientation of the receptacle to the location of the device. The riveted construction precluded disassembly to verify internal workmanship, but the device bears the ETL Listing Mark. The proximity of the device face to the mounting surface may result in interferences when plugging in larger “wall warts” and the one- and one-half inch (1 ½ in.) receptacle mounting centers may result in interference if large plugs are being inserted (or if a wall wart is plugged into one of the receptacles). See photo. The integral clamps will (accommodate mounting to a surface from 5/8 inch to 2 1/16 inch thick, with an inch and one half “overhang” to allow the clamps to be fully seated. The clamp pads are molded from a smooth surfaced polymeric material and the opposite surface is polished aluminum. This may allow some movement when mounted to slick surfaces, when plugging in devices. An adhesive backed strip of rubber-like material would solve this potential problem. The instruction sheet provided (one sheet) gives minimal information (e.g., no indication of the wire gauge of the power supply cord), and no indication that there is any protective device in the 125v circuit to avoid overloading. The device does not bear any markings to identify the ratings of the various receptacles and, although mentioned in the instruction sheet, nothing to indicate that the USB receptacles are for charging only (useful if more than one individual will be using the work area). The RJ45 “pass through” connections are, likewise, unmarked. The 125v receptacles and the 5V charging USB ports work as intended. I was not able to utilize the data “pass through” connections, but (assuming the internal wiring is correct) one would not expect this to be an issue. In summary, if the receptacle configuration is suitable for your intended use and the clamping surface provides enough grip, this will be a good addition to a workspace used either by multiple users or one person who frequently has a transitory need for a workspace were one can plug in devices and/or charge phones without having to dig though a ratsnest of wiring behind a desk.

This is a very well built and useful device for an office desk or work bench. The power cord is 10' long, which is useful if desk or bench are far from wall outlet. The aluminum profiles give it a nice look and ruggedness. Outlets and chargers at your finger tips is very desirable for places like repair benches. The ETV listing indicates that it has passed electrical safety standard testing by Intertek, which is a requirement in some commercial applications as well and should be considered by homeowners. The one thing we did not like is the hard edges of the anodized aluminum, which are clamped to the table are not protected, so they will mar up the deks/bench surface after repeated insertion and removal of power plugs. An easy solution would be a felt pad with adhesive, as it is available at home improvement stores

My wife and I have been working with this moveable desk mount dual-power outlets and dual USB chargers for only a few days. But it already has been a great help/time saver especially with its 10-foot power cord which permits a lot of latitude in mount placement. We can quickly move and mount the unit where needed. We have not yet used the 2 dual-cat 6 pass-thru ports but will probably in the near future. See attached photographs.

This power box is a nice concept product from QVS however some tweaks are in order. When mounting the device the power cord tends to be in the way. Also, there's no padding on the clamp to help secure the outlet box to the table top or desk. I have mine mounted on the desk currently allowing me to easily plug my laptop in. The USBs are I nice detail.
