Can two smaller FloodGates be placed side by side in order to cover a double door width? Would that give the same level of water exclusion at the adjoining seam as it does at each one of the side ends?
Asked by: WalterLogged
I live on the Fl. Gulf Coast and I have 3 doors protected normally with these units and they have worked well when 8" of water was up against the doors and the house stayed dry when it would have been flooded in the past. I think your idea could work but the two edges are only a couple of inches wide to match up. The waterproof neoprene cover does wrap around so the mating edges should be waterproof and the expansion mechanism should make them fit tightly together, but given the expense of the units, I would contact the manufacturer for a professional answer. Also the house has to be waterproof as water can enter places other than the doors, Good luck

Can this be left outside semi permanently?

Asked by: Jason
Yes, I use 3 on a winter home in Crystal River, Fl. when we are back North. The cover is bright orange waterproof neoprene that can/will fade in bright sun and I put a white towel over mine to protect the surface from the sun and blend in with the house doors better. Mine have already paid for themselves as we had 8" of water up against the doors shortly after we left and the house stayed dry when it would have flooded in the past. The rest of the house has to be water proofed also obviously.

I have 37.5” &65” space to seal

Asked by: Ken
You would need the QDFG35 that expands from 35" to 40" for the 37.5" width. For the 65" wide door, you would need 2 QDFG30 that expands from 30"-35" and you would need a stanchion to join the units together - QDFGSTAN. If the sides of the doorway are not stable and you need reinforcement to create a smooth surface for the floodgates, there is also a set of side rails that we also sell - QDFGSIDES.

Do they work if installed on the inside of the doorway?
Asked by: SLA
Yes- they can be installed on the inside as well. This is the norm for doors that open outwards.

I have a home in Crystal River, Fl. that is right on the water and subject to rising sea levels and storm surges. After a hurricane flooded our home with 26" of water and repaired I decided to take some preventative actions. Our home is brick and I painted the whole house with waterproof paint with extra coats on the lower 3 feet. After researching doorway flood barriers on the Internet I decided to buy the Floodgate units and bought 3 from Home Depot. They were delivered right to my home with free shipping. They are quite heavy and this was a plus. The units install easily in the door frame with supplied tools, expand quickly and tightly against the door frame and base and form a waterproof barrier up about 26" to the door knob. We are not in the home during the summer and install the Floodgates when we leave and have them ready to use when we are in the home during the winter. Shortly after I installed the units and we went North, we had 8" of storm surge up against the house and the 3 doors which in the past would have been all through the house. The Floodgates worked perfectly and our house remained completely dry. The 3 units paid for themselves right away. These units work, give us peace of mind, and have been an excellent investment. NOTE: The rest of your house has to be waterproofed also as water can come in other places beside the protected doors,
