Questions & Answers

Automatic shutoff

Does this have automatic shutoff when the unit cools downs?
Asked by: Bruno
Built into devises like this is a control called an aqua stat. It is an industry term for a thermostat that specifically deals with water temperature. The specific style of aqua stat used in this unit is called a clicks on switch. So here is the basic order of operation. The thermostat controlling the temperature for that zone closes. That causes the relay in the boiler room to close. That causes electrical current to flow to the circulation pump which then starts moving water through the zone. When the hot water reaches the unit the aqua stat senses this and closes. This allows current to flow to the blower motor. When sufficient heat has been delivered to the zone the main thermostat controlling the zone opens. Then everything shuts down in reverse order. Because of this the unit only blows when heat is present. More important because of this design you do not have to wire the unit back to the boiler. They do not need to communicate. On a separate subject the biggest mistake people make with kick space heaters is that they do not pipe them properly. Most heating zones are piped in 3/4". Where as kick space heaters are 1/2". You do not bring the 3/4" to the unit and reduce, That will limit the entire zone to 12000 BTU's Instead you pipe the kick space heater as a loop off of a loop using 3/4"x1/2" mono flow tees or scoop tees. If you don;t know what I am talking about google it. If you find you are still confused you can give me a call. There is no magic in hydronic heating, just things that have not been appropriately explained. Chris 978 651 3301

can i connect two of these serially

Asked by: Gabriel
Sure, I don't see why you wouldn't be able too. I have a single one in a 22 x 24 kitchen that is also open to dining area and this heater had no problem keeping it warm this winter. Even on low it had no problem. I don't think I ever even turned it to high.
