Answer This Question

A:  I do not know an actual number of a dB rating for this fan. I have had mine installed in the gable vent of my 2 story house for about 5 years. When it is on, I can hear it in the driveway, but it is not annoying. Jay

A:  Yes it is designed for wiring direct via Romex or BX cable. Note that code may require a switch to cut power to the fan in an emergency.

A:  Yes. Pretty much anything can be hard wired, however your system might require a relay or some additional control parts.

      by|Feb 28, 2021

A:  Yes this can be hard wired. The high speed setting can be noisy if not properly secured at all 4 points of contact. I have it on the low speed setting and it does the job and is quiet to the point you do not notice it.

Q:Can it be mounted to a vent that is inside the attic but on the ceiling, venting directly outside

      Answer This Question

A:  Yes. Absolutely. The fan does not care in which direction it is mounted. You may find it easier to first mount the fan to a piece of plywood or osb, and then use some kind of vibration dampener between the plywood/fan and the underside of the roof. I used carpet padding and it greatly improved the noise.

      by|Sep 27, 2020

A:  Yes, this fan can be mounted vertically. However, please keep in mind there is not protection against weather.

Q:Has anyone modified the default Summer/Winter settings? Or added others? (Spring, Fall,...) The default Summer is Fan on low at 80F, high at 100F, on low at 70% humidity, off at 90% humidity. Winter is on low at 30F, on high at 40F, on low at 70% humidity, off at 90% humidity. My plan in N Fla is to leave it in Summer mode until the attic is consistently below 75F, then switch it to Winter mode. Any other tips, ideas, etc. Thanks!

        Answer This Question

A:  This fan comes with a simple on-off switch with an adjustable temperature set point. Although the motor has a high and low speed, the selection of speed is made using one or the other of the line leads on the switch. If you want all of those other control fetchers, you would have to buy an after market controller and sensors.

        by|Sep 20, 2020

A:  The QuietCool App displays the recommended settings as the default settings. They are easily adjustable in the settings menu.

        by|Oct 31, 2020

A:  Yes. I simply did not install the supplied thermostat. But instead installed one with a much higher temperature cutoff. Jay
