A:  I do not know an actual number of a dB rating for this fan. I have had mine installed in the gable vent of my 2 story house for about 5 years. When it is on, I can hear it in the driveway, but it is not annoying. Jay

    A:  Yes it is designed for wiring direct via Romex or BX cable. Note that code may require a switch to cut power to the fan in an emergency.

      A:  Yes. Pretty much anything can be hard wired, however your system might require a relay or some additional control parts.

      A:  Yes this can be hard wired. The high speed setting can be noisy if not properly secured at all 4 points of contact. I have it on the low speed setting and it does the job and is quiet to the point you do not notice it.

      A:  Yes. Absolutely. The fan does not care in which direction it is mounted. You may find it easier to first mount the fan to a piece of plywood or osb, and then use some kind of vibration dampener between the plywood/fan and the underside of the roof. I used carpet padding and it greatly improved the noise.

        A:  This fan comes with a simple on-off switch with an adjustable temperature set point. Although the motor has a high and low speed, the selection of speed is made using one or the other of the line leads on the switch. If you want all of those other control fetchers, you would have to buy an after market controller and sensors.
