Yes, the concrete will bond better.
QUIKRETE® Surface Bonding Cement will not bond to wood without mechanical fastening. Using QUIKRETE® Concrete Bonding Adhesive as a primer will not permit bonding by itself.
The last post was not mine. I am a DIY and have not used the product extensively yet.
The coverage will depend on how QUIKRETE® Concrete Bonding Adhesive is used. As a paint-on adhesive - 35 to 75 ft²/qt (140 to 300 ft²/gal) (3.4 to 7.3 m²/L); as a slurry coat - approximately 19 ft²/qt (76 ft²/gal) (1.85 m²/L); or as a primer – 150 to 300 ft2/qt (600 to 1200 ft²/gal) (14.7 to 29.4m²/L).
QUIKRETE® Concrete Bonding Adhesive is specifically formulated for permanently bonding new concrete or plaster to old concrete or plaster. It is not a general utility adhesive. We recommend instead QUIKRETE® Advanced Polymer Construction Adhesive for your project.
If the surface has been prepared as described, no additional bonding adhesive should be required. Prior to installing a self-leveling product, review the manufacturer’s instructions regarding priming. For self-leveling underlayments, priming may be necessary to prevent air migration, which may cause pinholes in the surface.
QUIKRETE® Concrete Bonding Adhesive is designed to bond new concrete to existing concrete. It has not been evaluated with clay block, so we are unable to recommend its’ use prior to parging.
QUIKRETE® Concrete Bonding Adhesive will work on polished concrete, as long as it has not been sealed.
You could , but probably not necessary on clean boards.
QUIKRETE® Concrete Bonding Adhesive is designed to facilitate bonding fresh concrete to existing concrete. It will not assist in adhering for vertical/overhead applications. We recommend instead using a repair material designed for vertical and overhead repairs, like QUIKRETE® FastSet Repair Mortar or QUIKRETE® Polymer Modified Structural Repair.
