Q:With preparation being key, in Colorado, if any appropriately sized crack is prepared, cleaned, filled w sand leaving 1/4", depth, then coated with concrete bonding primer, how long might a homeowner expect it to last before having to do all over? Thanks
by|Sep 29, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  QUIKRETE® Concrete Bonding Adhesive is not suitable for your application. QUIKRETE® Concrete Crack Seal is a more appropriate product. Depending on exposure extremes, the crack seal can last several years when placed properly.

I use this concrete crack filler to seal the space between the pool deck and the in ground pool bricks. Any repairs needed due to weather, temperature variations & rain, are easily addressed. Minor cracks in the concrete deck easily filled, providing a moisture seal and restores the original appearance. I plan to continue using this product as my deck needs future attention.

              This is an useless product
Three days went by and I still waiting for this stupid crap to dry up, I'm planning to totally remove it even if I have to start again, if you're in need of something like this just use regular cement and add the whatever yourself...

Beautiful job in the garage floor
Really is excellent product. I did it by myself and the results are beautiful. For the smaller cracks I used an small cosmetic brush. Now I am planning to paint my garage floor.

Easy to use effective concrete crack sealer
I have used Quikrete concrete crack sealant before and it always works well. When working on larger cracks, I start by using a concrete chisel to even off the edges. Then I use a putty knife to clean out debris that has collected in the crack. Then I use a canister vacuum to get smaller particles cleaned out. And finally, I use a leaf blower to finish cleaning the crack. Then I use closed-cell foam backer rod (more like backer rope) to form a bottom seal in the crack so my sealant doesn't disappear into the great unknown. Then I pour the Quikrete concrete sealant into the crack. For deeper cracks, I fill the crack 1/4" at a time. Since it forms a "skin" on top fairly quickly, second applications can be applied in an hour or two. I have used Quikrete concrete sealant for repairs to sidewalks, porches, patios, and garage floors. I like the way that Quikrete concrete sealant pours easily out of the bottle and flows into every crevice and then forms a flat surface and a water-proof seal. I also like that the bottle comes with a re-useable cap that preserves the left-over material for the next job. It seems to last for at least a couple of years. The only caution is that since it is self-leveling, it doesn't work so well on sloped surfaces.

                  Tried it
I used this product to fill in the control cuts on my driveway and slab. I first filled in the cuts with backer rod( backer rope) so the openings weren’t so big. After shaking the bottles for some time it was time to see how the product would work. Came out sort of thick but not to bad mind you it was 70 degrees and sunny so I figured with the temp and sunshine it would level off nicely. Really wasn’t the case. Now after a couple of weeks the sealer it self is starting to crack.

Great price, easy to use and you’ll save a lot of money with this quick fix. It allows you to be proactive as oppose to reactive with different things around the house.

                      Applied to a driveway.
Easy to use, fills cracks nicely. I cleaned the cracks with a small wire brush..and for areas deeper than 1/2" ..filled in with some elastimeric sand before applying the quikrete. I used a flat plastic spackling tool to push the quikrete down into the cracks and level. My driveway concrete is slightly tan, not great. So, I used tan elastimeric sand..and sprinkled on top the quikrete...blends in very well.
