How long of a crack 1/4 in wide does a quart fill

Asked by John May 26, 2021

Answer

Each quart bottle will fill a ¼” x ½” (6 x 12 mm) crack 38’ (11.6 M) long

Can it be applied in layers after the previous one dries. Will it stick to itself?

Yes. I use it to patch old cracks filled before, and it works well on top of old fillers.

Would this product be OK to fill the gap between my walkway and pool coping

It has worked well for me over the years to seal cracks in the driveway to prevent water from entering the cracks which then prevents ice from forming in winter and doing more damage to the driveway.

Hi i was wondering if you can paint over this product with epoxy ?

Will liquid water sealant for concrete effect this product if it has been fully cured.

I don’t believe it will because when the product dries it dries pretty hard and I don’t think anything can penetrate it but with the sealant after it dries it breaks apart. For concrete work I would recommend something more flexible because the ground moves and this product I believe it dries too hard it’s too brittle

Will this product be effected if I apply liquid water sealant on the concrete its applied to after this has cured?

I have only applied cement paint over it. You can see the filler but it did not loose adhesion.

Better, easier install than Sika and other caulk tube brands
I placed this around my in-ground swimming pool (after I removed the old) and the used M-D Building Products 1/2 in. x 20 ft. Caulk Backer Rod, Gray. This stuff is beaitiful! Self-Levelling and excellent easy pour, no caulk gun to screw with! I tested this and took a photo for you to see. MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE THAN SIKA SND NO CHANGING TUBES!

good product
This is a good product depending on the application and where the crack is your trying to repair. I was fixing a crack on my raised porch and it was a challenge to repair. Took several passes with the sealant to achieve desired seal and look. Did harden and was easily sandable. If your crack is a shrinkage crack that shrinks and expands this will fill the crack but will eventually crack with shrinking and expanding of the slab so keep that in mind. Make sure to take your time cleaning and opening the crack up for proper adhesion.

I put this on a day that it was in the 70's. A week later we had a cold front come through it got down to 19 degrees. I drove my car over it. It appeared to be cracking. See the picture.

The only downside to this product is that it is not elastic. It won't expand and contract with the surface you apply it to. It has a hard plastic-like texture when dried. I've found that you can smooth out an area you've used it on by lightly wetting it...same as you would with silicone caulk. Long term lasting ability? Not good. It will eventually loose all adhesion over time and also crack where it couldn't expand. I've thought about buying a whole lot of it and using it as a surface coat over some brick steps that have opened up in some of the mortar joints. On those areas where there's gaps in the mortar joints? I'd apply some type of tape(duct?) over those mortar lines and then go over the whole vertical surface. This is a liquid so it will run - almost(!) self-leveling. If you want it to be such, you could thin it with water.

Very good product. Self leveling - advantage over caulk. Only drawback was not being able to get 100% out of squeeze bottle as it is pretty thick, difficult to stir. Advise to have bottle shaken in paint dept before leaving store. Adheres good when dries. Would like to see longer tipped cap.

You don't get what you expect from a concrete fixer with this. This is for hairline cracks only. Also the nozzle is so poorly made that it keep blocking the liquid from coming out with just 10 sec of use. So every 10 sec, you have to open the nozzle, clean it or poke it and then use it. Frustrating. I hope whatever patch up I did, stays long enough to give this a better rating.

This product has limited use as applying becomes an issue as temperatures dip to the lower end of the application temperature range. After several applications over even a relatively small crack the gap is not fully filled. However, it does water proof.
