does deck mud needs to be waterproofed before tiling in bathroom

Answer

A water barrier or sealer should be applied to QUIKRETE® Deck Mud prior to tile installation. The Deck Mud will not act as a water barrier on its own.

How quickly will the mix set?

Answer

QUIKRETE® Deck Mud Mortar Mix is normal setting; it will typically begin to stiffen after 60-90 minutes and will be '‘thumbprint hard’ after 4-6 hours.

Can this be used as a filler in between exterior flag stone walkway?

Answer

QUIKRETE® Deck Mud can be used between flagstones. Alternately, we recommend QUIKRETE® Sand/Topping Mix for this application. With either product, be certain to remove any mixed product from the flagstone faces, as it will be difficult to remove once hardened.

This would fill in the gap of 1/2 inch crack in concrete. I would not use mortar to fill in a crack of concrete because the concrete is flexing at the crack point. This is the reason for the crack. I believe you will be happier finding something with more elasticity.

I would not use this to replace 3.5 inches of concrete. I would suggest purchasing ready mix concrete. There are no rocks in this bag thus the stuff will want to crack when nature flexes the location.

it is not as simple as that. You need to use deck mud (5 parts sand : 1 part portland cement) as a 'Pre slope' then lay a PVC pan liner, then use the deck mud to make actual slope over the liner. check out products like quick pitch and videos by goof proof on YT to see how this is done

So just add water and mix then right

Yes.

Is this product appropriate for the pre-slope layer of a shower pan AND the final layer poured onto the vinyl pan liner before tiling?
