50 lb. Glass Block Mortar Mix

A:  QUIKRETE® Glass Block Mortar Mix can be placed at above-freezing temperatures as long as cold-weather precautions are taken. Below 50 ºF (but above 32 ºF), cold weather precautions must be taken to promote proper curing. These include, but are not limited to, the following: store the raw materials in a warm temperature before use, use warm (not hot) water to mix, and ensure that the mortar is protected from freezing for at least 48 hours using plastic sheeting, insulated blankets, or other means. If these preventive measures cannot be taken, it would be best to wait for warmer weather. As a last resort, QUIKRETE® Thermolube (#1905) can be used. This product contains Calcium Chloride so it should not be used in areas that will be in contact with steel reinforcement. If color is important, addition rates should be established, and consistency maintained throughout the project. For maximum acceleration use the highest recommend dosage. Do not under any circumstances use more than the recommended dosage

A:  QUIKRETE® Glass Block Mortar will accept the QUIKRETE® Liquid Cement Colors. The resulting color will be different than advertised because of using the white base mortar. Trial and error will be necessary to determine the optimum color loading for your desired appearance.

A:  Yes, I think it would work fine. My thoughts are, you may need to mix it a little stiffer to get it to stay with the shapes of the bottles. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

A:  QUIKRETE® Glass Block Mortar can be used to make constructs using glass bottles. Blocks made with this material should be allowed to fully cure prior to being placed into service.

A:  QUIKRETE Glass Block Mortar is a white Type S masonry mortar designed particularly for glass block installations. It can be used for re-pointing brick work. Ordinarily, we recommend a Type N masonry mortar for this application, like QUIKRETE Mortar Mix #1102.

A:  I don't think it would hold up being walked on all the time . It's a good product for what it is made for and I will buy it again for windows.
