I have a 14 year old 2 flu chimney and much of the cap was cracking. I removed all the old mortar and in doing so, 3 or 4 bricks became loose. I am going to use the sand/topping #1103 mix along with the fortifier #8610 to cap off the top of a chimney. Can I remove the loose bricks, remove the old mortar and use this sand/topping mix with the fortifier to reinstall the bricks then cap the chimney?
Asked by: RT
That would probably work good. If it were me, I’d recommend buying 3 or 4 tubes of the 10oz Quickrete mortar repair since you only have a few bricks to replace. It’ll be easier to handle, no mixing required, and costs less than $3 a tube. Hope this helps.

can i use thos as jointing sand in pavers

Asked by: matt
Pour sand mix into joints dry, sweep mix from top of pavers. Lay an old bed sheet or towels over pavers and lightly mist with garden hose. i did this and got good results. Joints will recede 1/4 inch and will look good.
