Q:Is it waterproof
by|Jan 11, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  QUIKRETE® QUIK-TUBES® are engineered from multiple layers of high-quality fiber laminated with an adhesive, with a special coating which resists moisture and facilitates even curing. They are water resistant, not completely waterproof, as they are designed as a temporary form to contain concrete while it cures. Q:Can you use spray paint to color tube.

    Answer This Question

A:  Yes you can. I used these to make large nut cracker Christmas decorations. Lots of paint red, black, white, and gold. No issues with paint not sticking.

A:  QUIKRETE® QUIK-TUBE®s are coated so that they resist moisture and promote even curing when concrete is placed within them. This coating will likely prevent the paint from bonding with the tube.

Q:What are the different sizes used for? What is the recommendation for a 5ft fence?
        by|Oct 13, 2023
        1 Answer
        Answer This Question

A:  QUIKRETE® QUIK-Tubes are available in multiple sizes to accommodate different post sizes. The tube diameter should be 3x the post diameter. A 12” QUIK-Tube, for example is designed for 4” square or diameter posts.

Perfect size for setting 6X6 posts for gates or corner posts. You'll need this after pulling the old one out of the ground. The hole you will dig to get the old one out will most likely be oversized and that's where this comes in. You can get the new post exactly where the old one sat and back fill in around the QUIK-TUBE. At a depth of 24" and a 6X6 you will need approximately 150 +/- pounds of concrete.

You may find this very hard to believe, but I use these sono tubes to make six foot tall candles that are placed in the front yards of our neighbors during the Christmas season.

Need a fence repaired? Here's an option.
I cut the firm cardboard easily with a hacksaw to 16", then made a vertical cut so I could wrap it around an existing post. Then supported it replacing and packing the dirt at the outside circumference, then filled the inside with QUICKRETE. My first time, I took my time, and saved a lot of money on a repair job. By the way, our previous repair job gets a thumbs DOWN! But I'm retired and still learning. Also used some inexpensive strong ties.

Worked well for forms for putting in fence posts. Hole was too large due to removing old pole..

Substantial construction that retains its designed proportions as concrete is being poured. Good product.

The product worked perfectly for what I used it for. Next day delivery was very useful, and I’ll look at using this method again in the future.

Could be more waterproof like other brands.
