About This Product
This dual function moisture meter is capable of detecting moisture in wood and building materials by pin or by running the instrument over the surface area (non-destructive method). The R6018 displays icons to indicate low, medium or high levels of moisture and an audible alert that increases in frequency as detected moisture level rises. Low battery indicator and auto shut-off.

Yes, this device can be used to measure moisture content in hardwood slabs. It can measure up to 0.3" (8mm) deep on Pin Mode, and up to 1" (25mm) on Pinless Mode.
Will it work for exterior wood siding
Hello Just, this device measures the moisture content in wood at a depth of 0.3" (8mm) on Pin Mode and up to 1" (25mm) on Pinless Mode. When measuring wood siding on Pinless Mode, please ensure there are no metallic materials inside or behind the wood. Does it work on carpet?
Hello Randy, The R6018 Dual Moisture Meter is designed to detect moisture in wood and building materials, such as sheetrock, cardboard, plaster, concrete, and mortar. We do not recommend using this unit for carpets or fabrics. Thank you.
can it be used on a concrete slab for flooring?

HOW DO IT WORK? water in the front yard
Hello Gregory, please note that we do not recommend using a pin/pinless moisture meter for checking water in the front yard. The primary application is to check for moisture in building materials.
Do you need to drill holes in concrete to test it
Hello Linus, please note that the pinless function of moisture meters are considered non-invasive, and thus do not require any drilling into the material you are measuring. The pin function does not require drilling either but may leave marks on the surface you are trying to measure.
