will it vacuum fine dirt
Hello Pete, Thank you for reaching out regarding our product. Yes, the HD1200 12-gallon wet/dry vacuum can be used for picking up fine dust. However, the standard filter included with the vacuum is a 1-layer filter and may not provide optimal performance for fine dust collection. For best results, we recommend upgrading to a VF5000, VF6000, or VF8000 HEPA-rated filter. Additionally, we offer the VF3502 dust collection bag, which can be used in conjunction with the cartridge filter to improve fine dust containment and simplify disposal. Please note that the VF3502 dust bag is intended for dry pickups only and should not be used for wet applications. Where does the hose attach for wet vacuum
Hello Albl, Thank you for your question. For wet vacuuming (pickup), the hose should be attached to the front inlet port located on the drum of the RIDGID HD1200. This is the port used for vacuuming both wet and dry debris. For the blower feature, remove the hose from the inlet and attach it to the blower port located at the back of the vacuum near the power cord entry. Can you use expandable flexible hose for draining or will it not work since drum only use gravity to discharge water?
Hello JoeY, Thank you for your inquiry about our product. Please be advised that the flexible hose included with your HD1200 model is intended only for vacuuming and blower operations and is not designed to be used as a drainage hose. If you need to drain water from the unit, you can connect a standard garden hose to the drain port using the Hose-to-Drain Adapter (Part No. VT2519). Once connected, gravity will allow the liquid contents of the vacuum drum to drain out through the garden hose. Drainage relies on gravity, so whenever possible, the vacuum should be elevated to help direct the water safely away from the area being cleaned. For optimal performance, we do not recommend vacuuming and draining at the same time, as this may reduce the vacuum's suction power and overall effectiveness. Is the filter compatible with water pick up
Hello Sophie, Thank you for your inquiry about our products. Yes, the filter that comes with the RIDGID HD1200 Wet/Dry Vacuum can be used to pick up liquids. Please note the following recommendations when vacuuming liquids: For small amounts of liquid (less than 2 inches [5 cm] in the bottom of the drum), the filter may remain installed. For larger amounts of liquid (more than 2 inches [5 cm] in the bottom of the drum), we recommend removing the filter. If the filter is left in place, it may become saturated and cause misting at the exhaust. When the liquid in the drum reaches a predetermined level, the float mechanism will automatically rise and shut off airflow. You will know the float has activated when suction stops and the motor sound becomes higher in pitch due to increased motor speed. When this occurs, turn off the vacuum, unplug the power cord, and empty the drum. After using the vacuum for liquid pickup, be sure to dry the filter thoroughly to help prevent mildew and possible damage. For high-volume liquid pickup with debris, the RIDGID Wet Application Filter (VF7000) is specifically designed for use with RIDGID wet/dry vacuums and is recommended for optimal performance. This filter is sold separately and is available at your local Home Depot store or online at HomeDepot.com. What is the outside diameter of the hose end coupling so I know if it will fit a dust port with and inside diameter of 2.25" ?

While we cannot guarantee that it will fit the dust port, we offer one power tool adapter, part number VT1407, which connects to our 2-1/2" RIDGID hoses and fits certain sizes of power tools. While it includes an OSHA-Compatible Kit with HEPA-level filtration and cyclonic dust bags, this kit is intended to meet OSHA requirements for HEPA-level filtration during certain applications.
