18V Brushless Cordless 18-Gauge 1-1/2 in. Narrow Crown Stapler (Tool only)

I’m really liking this next generation of nailers from Ridgid. I do home remodeling, so I’m always looking for a way to do work efficient and fast with quality. I installed several doors throughout the house, and I used it for the casings and had no issues. Every time it would sink the nails and it adjust really good. I really like how adjustable it is so I have a lot of control on how deep I want the staples to go. And, of course, my favorite thing about it is No hoses or air compressor. Just put on a battery and let’s go. Recommended to any guy in construction even if they’re not on the platform already it’s worth getting on it just to save time with cordless nailers. It durable and compact.

Narrow crown staplers have 1/4" wide staples, and are excellent for finish work, like stapling thin strips of wood without splitting it. The staples have longer legs to secure effectively, and offset the narrow width and provide strength. A crown stapler is very similar to a brad or finish nailer, but shoots staples instead which have much better holding power. Common applications would be cabinets, crown molding, lattice, door and window trim, etc.

I'm a tool junkie. Something new and innovative, I gotta have it. This RIDGID 18V Brushless Cordless 18-Gauge 1-1/2 in. Narrow Crown Stapler is brand new to their 2023 line. Amazingly, with all the tools I own I'm missing a cordless narrow crown stapler so when this was offered to me as part of a Home Depot promotion I ordered one. This came as a "tool only", no battery charger or battery but I have both from other Ridgid tools I own. Made in Vietnam (there's a surprise) the stapler balances well and feels substantial. The controls feel positive and are easily accessible. I have no immediate task for this tool but I did test it to be sure everything was working properly. Really wish I would have grabbed one of these sooner. I have been using a hand stapler for my projects up until now and I’m realizing how much of disservice I’ve been doing to my poor forearms and wrists trying to run staples into my projects. The Ridgid narrow crown stapler just makes working on projects so much quicker and painless. I have been building cat towers and small outdoor decorations as a hobby and the stapler has quite simply sped up the process at least 3x. The tool could not be any easier to use, load up your desired staples (18 gauge or 1.2mm with a length min/max of 3/8”-1.5” or 9.5mm to 38.1mm) and you are basically ready to go. You do have an air pressure adjustment on the rear for setting the depth of the stable, which can be even further fine-tuned using the drive dial by the nose of the tool. Managing your staples is easy as the staple slot is transparent allowing you to see how many staples you have remaining. The leading edge of the staple holder also has a built-in ruler for quick measurements, however I found them hard to see as the markings are the same color as the body. It would have been nice to have some contrasting markings to make the measurements easier to read. The stapler offers two modes, single sequential actuation or contact actuation mode (the switch is located under the triggers) which give you quite a bit of flexibility on how to use the stapler. I recommend single sequential for accuracy and the contact actuation for speed. The tip of the unit features an anti-marring tip cover to help reduce denting/marking softer woods. The trigger is responsive and pulls easily. There is also a smaller trigger under the main trigger to activate the LED light on the front of the unit without having to worry about accidentally firing a staple when just wanting to light up and area or line up your shot. The stapler also features the mounting points for belt clips at the base of the unit, however those were not included with this kit. Overall, I am very pleased with the unit. After taking a scrap piece of wood and setting my staples to their desired depth, I was up and running and shooting staples into my project with ease.

Picked this up because I am re-framing a door that has always been a little off. I do have an air powered nailer, but wanted to use narrow staples for this effort. What's in the box? The nailer, instructions and warranty details. That's it. I slapped on a Max battery and started using it. There is a nice dial on the side that adjust how deep the staple goes into the wood. Testing on pine it is extremely accurate. You can make slight adjustments to have it level with the wood or just below.

This narrow crown stapler is awesome. It consistently and quickly drives staples into hardwoods. It uses Ridgid clean drive tech for less jams and increased productivity. It has zero ramp up time which means there isn’t a delay on firing after the trigger is pressed. Even with the larger battery installed, it is not too heavy so you won’t be tired working with it all day. I picked up some 1 ½” staples (Model # DNS18150-2) and with a scrap of cedar tested the staple drive and used the pressure adjustment dial to set the appropriate pressure to drive the staples into the wood. I just put up a cedar fence using it and it did not jam once! I really like the light – it stays on after you pull the trigger and stays lit after you stop, plus there is a separate button just to activate the light. It looks like this stapler is based on their 18 gauge nailer (Model #R09891B) just with a different magazine to accommodate 18 gauge staples. This is a solid stapler, easy to use, great value, and I highly recommend it.

Rigid has really been stepping up their game in the cordless power tool market. I have used many different brands of crown staplers over the years and I was very pleased with the performance of this crown stapler. Running on 18V batteries, this stapler can accommodate staples from 3/8-1 1/2 inch staples and does a great job of giving you consistent depth on each fire. There is zero ramp up time so no having to wait between each pull. You can up a ton of staples per charge and the tool comes with a dry-fire lockout feature. Ergonomics is good and overall well balanced in your hands. Overall good quality and performance!!

In one of the bedrooms, I found a rather large section of carpet had bunched up. So, I used a knee stretcher, carpet tucking tool, and this Ridgid 18v brushless narrow crown stapler to set the carpet back in place. I strategically set the staples in areas that ensured the bunching would not happen again. Problem is solved and the bunching of carpet is no longer a tripping hazard! The depth of drive adjustment knob was set at the perfect depth, but can be adjusted with increased or decreased pressure according to your application. Setting the air pressure can also be used to adjust fastener driving. The selectable trigger allows you to choose between single sequential actuation mode or contact actuation mode. I used the single sequential actuation mode when I did my carpet stapling work. The LED worklight grip switch is super bright, allowing clear viewing of fastener driving. The clear low fastener indicator window, in the magazine, is handy because it allows me to see when I'm getting low on fasteners. A non-marring pad, as well as a spare with on-board storage, are included and used when working with delicate pieces that you don't want to damage. Any Ridgid 18-volt battery will work with this unit. Gone are the days of having to lug around an extension cord, or even an air hose with air compressor for that matter. The magazine capacity is 105 staples, but I buy the 100 staple clips, so there is ample room for each clip. When you have zero to five staples left in the magazine, the dry-fire lockout will activate and you just need to add more staples and you're good to go. Of all the staples I've driven so far, not one jammed, so I can't speak on behalf of jam removal. Best of all, this Ridgid narrow crown stapler comes with free parts, free service, for life (as long as you register it within 90-days of purchase). Next, I'm putting up a chair rail in the kitchen so the chairs stop damaging the wall, and then I have to fasten down some paneling. This Ridgid narrow crown stapler makes these jobs easy!

Bought this to put soffit up. Tip is narrow enough to fit in between ribs and makes installing a lot quicker. Have had zero issues with jamming or making adjustments. Slowly building my Ridgid line and with the new warranty process my faith has been restored with their tools
