Very Useful Ratchet in Tight Situations
I needed this ratchet so that I could reach certain fasteners on my truck engine. It has twice the reach of the Rigid standard cordless ratchet and with 45 ft./lbs. of torque, it can loosen just about every bolt under my truck's hood. The turning speed is 325 RPM, so fasteners come off quick. I especially like how the 18 volt Lithium-Ion mounts onto the rachet handle. Instead of the battery turning 90 degrees, it is mounted in the horizontal plane of the tool. This gives you even more clearance when you need it. The trigger has a light but firm action and it's really easy to switch the ratchet's turn direction. You can even lock the trigger to protect against an inadvertent squeeze. The only thing that I might change is the how the LED lamp is mounted. Instead of pointing at the business end of the ratchet, it mysteriously points at 45 degrees away.

Game changer
Great reach! This impact is extremely useful. I had the shorter version but when this one became available i had to have it. The extra inches in length made for a world of difference while working on the car for those deep bolts that i just couldn't reach easily. The power in this thing is amazing and although i love the sound of air tools (i know im odd) , this 18v is so so much more convenient.

This Ridgid extended-reach ratchet is a game changer!
With repairing items that break down myself, I was longing for something longer than a regular ratchet. Behold this Ridgid 18-volt 3/8” extended reach ratchet! The low profile head makes it convenient to fit in super tight spaces. The detent pin securely holds sockets in place with no fear of them slipping off. The variable speed makes it very convenient to slowly back out bolts so as to not round off the head of the bolt, especially in rusty applications. Also, sometimes these tight spaces don't allow much light to pass through – the onboard light on this 3/8” ratchet gives the extra visibility needed to see what you are doing. I mated this extended reach ratchet with a 2AH battery and it feels very well balanced in hand. The forward and reverse is controlled via a knob on the back of the anvil. The lock button is recessed behind the motor in the event you don't want to accidentally power the ratchet or when you put it away for storage until the next project. I've used it already to do maintenance on my snowblower, my vehicle, and a super old generator. This is my new go-to!

18v, Extended Reach, 3/8", Brushless 55ft/lbs torque
Very impressed with this ratchet. If you need longer runtime and more reach, this one's for you. This makes removing and installing fasteners so much quicker and easier. This one uses the 18v battery and that really increases the amount if time you can use it without changing batteries. And yes, it's brushless too. This is the extended reach version and that helps to get to those tough to get to fasteners. The shaft is steel making it hold up longer. It's rated at 55ft/lbs of torque and a speed of 0-250 rpms. The switch on the head is low profile, so as not to catch easily on surrounding things. The variable speed trigger is large enough to get two fingers on and is comfortable for extended use. The grip has a rubber coating, making it easier and more comfortable to use. It has an LED light to help see your work, but to also let you know when the battery is low, excessive force is being used, it's over temperature or that the battery needs to be removed for resetting. This is another very well built tool from RIDGID as expected. Don't forget to register your tool for the Lifetime Service Agreement.

Great tool for tough spaces. Comfortable, and not heavy but strong.
The " RIDGID 18V Brushless Cordless 1/4 in. Extended Reach Ratchet" is a great brand and tool. I am having my kid use it at the repair shop where he works and so far he likes it for all sorts of projects. I picked up a sued battery and charger and works great. I was afraid of the anvil being a little small and weak but it is great. I would recommend only using the 2.0-4.0 max batteries or the tool becomes a little heavy if working overhead. the adjustability works easy while using the tool and the light helps under cars. There has been no strength or power issues. Using all day long with plenty of power. Works with all mfg. bits and sockets.

Very Handy Tool
I like working on my own equipment for lots of reasons, the paramount of which is it saves me big bucks and I know the job is done to my satisfaction. I recently did some major work on my ATV and struggled with a traditional ratchet set. The areas where I had to get a wrench to work were tight and I could only get a few degrees of rotation making the job a bit of a struggle. When I was offered to try the RIDGID 18V Brushless Cordless 1/4 in. Extended Reach Ratchet (Tool Only), I was truly excited. This is my third battery-powered RIDGID tool so I have the necessary batteries and charger and I have been impressed with the RIDGID quality. Here are the things I really like about the tool: 1) The motor is brushless which means more power and longer-lasting batteries. 2) The ratchet has a longer reach than some tools and reaches into tight spaces with ease. 3) The tool has an LED light to illuminate tight spaces. 4) The trigger allows you to use two fingers and that allows for a better grip. 5) The tool accepts all RIGID batteries. 6) RIDGID offers an outstanding warranty when you register your tool. A couple things I feel could be improved is it is noisier than other ratchets I’ve heard and the forward/reverse dial could be a bit more user friendly. Reportedly, the ratchet only torques to a maximum of 45 pounds, but I found the wrench with a freshly-charged battery torques way beyond 45 foot pounds, so a torque wrench on some projects is a must. Overall, this is a really nice tool built by a manufacturer that includes many widely-known brands. Please give RIDGID tools your consideration if you want a quality tool.

Strong and compact
Good fit, albeit a little heavy but that also depends on your battery. Love how narrow it is to fit in most places. I got the 1/4 inch version although they have other sizes. Comes in handy when you need to reach for something. Very little effort in breaking it free. Be very careful when tightening though since you don't want to thread any bolts/nuts

Tool Only - Great Quality
This version is the tool only and it does not come with a battery or charger!
I found a 2-pack 4ah with charger on Home Depot which works perfectly.
This tool has the extended reach which makes it quite long, yet it is still manageable when long reach is not needed. The impact style ratcheting does a good job however there's not a ton of torque to initially loosen tough bolts. The good news is that it does allow for manual ratcheting so all you need to do is break the bolt loose manually using the tool, then use power to spin it out. Same is true for torqueing the bolts down. If you're needing a specific torque, you should use a separate, measured torque wrench for that anyways.
This tool works really well and is well made and good quality. The trigger is touch sensitive so you can control the speed both forward and reverse. It does not have a "High/Low" speed switch so the maximum speed is on the slower side, however, I wouldn't mind if it went faster.
Overall I'm very happy with this tool and it's a great addition to the shop!

FUNCTIONAL; LIMITED APPLICATIONS; 2 ½" MOTOR WIDTH; STRONG TORQUE; VARIABLE TRIGGER
The RIDGID 18V Brushless Cordless 1/4 in. Extended Reach Ratchet (Tool Only) is not as useful as anticipated for its extended reach capabilities but it is useful for its fast tightening and loosening and its torque capabilities. For extended reach, its reach is only 4" longer than my longest manual ratchet. The motor component is 2 ½" wide which may limit its extended reach in tight places. I like how this power ratchet can loosen and tighten a long lag screw so much faster than a manual ratchet. With the specified maximum torque of 45 ft. lbs. which is more than many cordless ratchets, it can tighten bolts without needing additional manual tightening. With its powerful torque, one must be careful in using it to remove a lag screw or bolt as I found out when it caused a lag screw to shear. The variable speed trigger is a useful feature which works well so maybe I was not using it correctly when removing the lag screw. Still a sheared screw or bolt can be a big problem. This ratchet’s weight of 2.9 lbs. may make it difficult to use for extended periods. This extended reach ratchet is not applicable for my most common ratchet application of tightening a bolt with a nut on the other end. In that case, two tools are needed. It was not convenient to use this power ratchet for this application. The safety instructions are excellent and should definitely be read before using the tool. Another important warning is that you are not to use the ratchet for manual tightening or loosening of a bolt. A right angle drill with the proper attachment would work as a power ratchet for many of the applications for which this extended reach ratchet might be used. See photo. In the end, this extended reach ratchet is a simple to use, functional tool with limited applications. It has a lifetime service agreement if registered within 90 days of purchase. It is made in China.

Extended Reach 3/8 inch cordless 18-volt Rachet
RIDGID 18V Brushless Cordless 3/8 in. Extended Reach Ratchet is a handy tool to make short work of removing and installing fasteners. Features include variable speed, led lighting on the area being worked on, and locking/unlocking of power switch. With its long reach, it can fit in tight spaces that a manual rachet might take a long time to undo a nut or bolt. A simple twist of the dial changes the direction from clockwise to counterclockwise. A couple things to remember is this tool is designed to speed up the removal and installation process and should not replace a torque wrench. This tool does not include the 18-volt battery or charger. If you already have 18-volt Ridgid battery tools, then you have everything you need to use it. Comes with a limited lifetime warranty, just register the tool on the Ridgid website. I really like using it at times when I have a lot of screws to undo, saves a lot of time for me.
