RIDGID introduces the R01301K 18V Brushless Pruner Kit. RIDGID's brushless motor technology delivers maximum performance and longer runtime. The pruner features a 1-¼ in. cut capacity to cut through the thickest of branches. The RIDGID 18-Volt Brushless Pruner delivers 2,750 cuts per charge with the included 2.0 Ah lithium-ion battery. It features durable steel blades with bypass cutting action that complete a cutting cycle in less than 1 second. It is also equipped with an LED light for improved visibility in low-light situations.     Q:Since the blades are only covered by a 90 day warranty can I either sharpen the blades or buy new replacement blades? Are they difficult to replace?

    A:  Hello, Jeff - Thank you for your question. The blades can be replaced and sharpened. To replace/sharpen the blades; Remove the battery pack. Place the product on a level surface with the housing side facing up. Turn the screws counterclockwise to unlock. Remove the housing. Flip the product onto its other side. Turn the locking screw counterclockwise to remove. Remove the washer and the small gear. Turn the locking nut counterclockwise to remove. Flip the product over onto its other side. Remove the swing gear assembly and cutting blade. Set aside. To sharpen the blades, rub a 300-400 grit sharpening stone across the edges of the cutting blade and the fixed blade. To replace a dull cutting blade, discard the old blade and install a new blade. Place the new or sharpened blade on the tool. Insert the bolt on the swing gear through the large holes in the fixed blade and cutting blade. Use the alignment pin on the swing gear assembly to correctly position the blade. Reinstall the locking nut, washer, and screw on the other side. Reinstall the blade cover and the screws. Rotate the screws clockwise to secure the housing. I hope this helps!               Impressive unit
              I’m impressed! This piece of equipment lasted 3 days of hard work in a single charge. I was skeptical of the claim that it would make 2,600 some odd cuts with the 2 amp hour battery. No, I didn’t count them but what it cut, the size it cute and the speed of the cuts was unbelievable! With a pair of loppers I’d probably still be working in the area of cuts only in day 1. The safety trigger is easy to use but I would be watchful if you have kids around and leave the battery off. To keep the cutting head “closed” simply close the jaw and remove the battery. Simple to use and on larger limbs simply make a few more cuts around the circumference of the limb and load it up.

              Small but mighty
              I liked the fact that I could take the tool out of the box charge the battery and use it right away. It is small enough for me to get under my chimney and along my fence line. The fact that I only need one hand to use it allowed me to get into much tighter spaces. It make the job much faster than my old two handled manual set. My wife also loved the fact that she can get through almost everything that we need to trim or prune in the yard.

                Ridgid Pruner, huge win
                I needed something that would replace my manual two handed lopper. I have several bushes that need annual pruning and this turned out to be a great replacement for the two handed lopper. Its small and light weight, and can cut through more than i could with my old loppers. I also found this is perfect for trimming down small stick for kindling in my fire pit. I just hold the larger stick with one hand, and cut away with the other. Didnt realize how often i would use this tool.

                  Impressive Little Devil
                  I could go through the list of kudos everyone else has already given the RIGID 18V pruner - it's power, size, time it holds a charge, and convenience - but they're already been said and every one is true. It's great tool. It replaced my long-handled lopers and has saved me hours of work. But it's not perfect. Holding the trigger while removing the battery to close the blades is just plain clunky. Still, this is one of those tools you'd never think you need - until the first time you use it.
