            Wasted my time and money
Blew put the sides of the first two tubes of caulk. Every time you take your finger off the trigger it releases the tube. Tried to call their 24/7 customer support and after a few prompts, it said “Thank you” and hung up on me. My contractor told me to buy a Milwaukee but, I decided to try Rigid since I have so many of their tools. Very disappointing. Cost me $16 in caulk.

It’s an excellent idea but the execution is lacking a bit. The precision is rendered useless because the gun releases all the pressure and backs out completely. This tool is only useful if you’re a stair or floor guy and need to dump tubes of PL. Not bad to have though. I’m sure that it will come in handy at some point. It’s cheap enough to experiment.

I do home remodeling so I definitely use a lot of caulking. This is the second time I actually use a powered caulking gun and I actually really liked it. It’s actually pretty easy to use similar to a regular caulking gun. The adjustment on it is really nice and actually adjust very well per application. I mostly use between speed one and two because I rarely put big beads. It’s squeezes very consistently and the dial on it adjust to a nice bead as you go. It even has a hanger so I could hang it on my belt or anywhere else as I want. One feature that actually surprised me is I didn’t have a bunch of squeeze out after. It worked out really good for when I was gluing and on that I used as a higher speeds from 5 to 7. This caulking gun has all the features including the poker, hanger, and a good reaction trigger. The runtime I had was all day with a three amp hour battery and even the next day. It’s definitely made of very good materials and should last a very long time. Plus Ridgid has a great warranty. It even has a lock out feature which I appreciate when not in use so I don’t accidentally squeeze out. Overall I really liked this caulking gun. I would definitely recommend it to other contractors who do a lot of caulking. I gun perform well and very consistent. And it’s not too heavy and well balanced.

Essential tool or Star Trek weapon prop? Maybe both – see photos. There was a joke dating back to the 60s, when electric carving knives came out: what about an electric fork? So, when I saw an electric caulk gun my first thought was: what is wrong with simple, mechanical caulk guns? But if you think about it, a lot! First is the trigger pressure problem. With high viscosity caulk or adhesive, it tends to come out in spurts that are correlated with pressure on the trigger. So, it can be difficult to get a smooth, consistent stream. Then there is the problem with stopping the flow, as the taking your finger off the trigger doesn’t stop the pressure instantly. This gun addresses the pressure/flow rate control in two ways, a variable dispensing rate dial (1 to 7) and the rate further controlled by trigger pressure. The dial essentially limits the maximum dispensing rate, while the trigger can either dispense at that rate if holding it fully depressed, or slow it down. And when you release the trigger, the pressure, and thus the flow, stops. So far It has been successful for me, initially with an old, partially used tube of industrial adhesive, and then with a very narrow bead from a new tube of GE Silicone around a bathroom sink. I was impressed both how easily it pushed out the old adhesive and how uniformly it extruded the silicone caulk. Overall the product is well thought out. At any point you can unload the cartridge by just pulling back on the “plunger rod handle.” It balances well, so you can just stand it on the battery – with or without a cartridge installed. And they included a “rafter hook” so you can also hang it if there is no place to put it down. The “carriage frame” that holds the cartridge can be removed for cleaning. And there is an attached puncture tool. If you are a Ridgid tool fan and already have an ecosystem of batteries and chargers, you should just buy the bare tool, as it Ridgid claims that all of their 18v tools are compatible with all their 18v batteries. In my case I had no Ridgid tools so I purchased the 18V 2.0Ah Battery and Charger Starter Kit. The Ridgid warranty is impressive: “Free parts. Free service. For Life.” You just have to register the product with them within 90 days of purchase. So far I haven’t had the need to get service or parts for the product, so I can’t speak from direct experience. But it sounds like a big improvement over warranties that seem to always expire right before a product dies.

A great solution for those times you have a lot of caulking or adhesive to use. This gun is great, first, it has plenty of power to dispense thick stuff like adhesives, it's a huge benefit unless you're really trying to bulk up your forearms! The speed/amount that's dispensed is controlled both by a dial and how much you depress the trigger. It also has a "anti-drip" feature that back up the plunger when you let go of the trigger The plunger handle can be moved by hand so it's intuitive and easy to remove a tube. It has a separate hanger to hang on a rafter or ladder. The only thing I wish it had was a way to handle larger tubes, this one only accepts the 10oz tubes. This is for the tool only, it doesn't come with a battery. I ran out to buy a battery and scored a great deal on a Rigid combo which came with two batteries. This led me to discover that I should have contemplated Rigid tool earlier, the LIFETIME warranty, that also covers the li-on batteries! I have seven different, incompatible battery chargers on my workbench, this one has earned a spot!

Caulking is one of my least favorite house work tasks. With a manual gun i can never get consistent beads. This electric caulk gun is a game changer. The trigger is variable speed with 7 different speed settings on the gun. It’s so much easier to pull the trigger on this Ridgid than a manual caulk gun and there’s no grabbing for another bite. This allows the user to focus strictly on running the bead, not the gun, making light work of the tedious caulking task. The carriage has threads and is easily removed for cleaning. It also has a poker to clear tube nozzles and a hook from which to hang it. It’s an easy to use, well built product backed by ridgid’s lifetime warranty. Once i got the hang of the speed I knocked a project out swiftly and easily.

Oh man, running caulk has never been so fast. I did the door casing before I even had a handle on the tool during my first use—this thing is made for remodelers, baseboard installation pros, and people who build with SIPs. Running caulk or construction adhesive is no longer a chore or a forearm/grip workout. The tool is smooth, but it goes from no-flow to huge flow pretty quickly—the initial flow takes a bit, but once it is at the tip, it’s off to the races. It does not drip one bit when the variable speed trigger is released, but it does take a bit to get going again. This may not actually be a problem with fresh caulk. Speed adjustment AND a variable speed trigger lets me dial it in, but I never got it dialed in because the plunger went through the back of my caulk tube because I loaded it with a very, very old tube of caulk. I could still get the job done, but it’s best to use fresh product. I didn’t have any new indoor/outdoor tubes on hand, so sadly my video does not highlight how nice this tool is to work with. Tip cut matters quite a lot with this machine because it pushes so smoothly and efficiently. Small tip cut, pierce the inner seal with the included piercing rod, and get to work. I like this caulking frame a lot.

With a substantial feel and good build quality this powered caulk and adhesive gun is good for occasional users and professionals alike – see video. It feels well balanced with a battery attached and will work with any Ridgid 18 volt battery. The delivery speed is variable and has enough range to satisfy the cautious and the professional for whom time is money. The progressive trigger provides a lot of fine control. The no drip feature works very well. The puncture tool is a useful addition but the seal on some tubes is too thick for it to penetrate. The huge fatigue reduction when compared to a manual gun makes this tool a must.

Why did no one tell me these powered caulking guns existed? I've finished caulking jobs over the years where my hand was aching like crazy after I finished, and this gadget would of been such a luxury to have. I gave it a try on our concrete wall shared with our neighbor which had cracked from a large palm tree. I popped in the tube of caulk and fired it up on a medium low power settings and it was easy! The gun did all the work and all I did was pull the trigger.

This makes caulking a a lot easier especially when I need to do a lot of caulking. i have not been impressed with Ridgid tools lately and I expect this to break in a year. I do like the sky hook and removable tube cylinder. The gun has a speed /pressure setting and is lightweight. It is like most guns on the market. Would be nice if it held large tubes and not just small ones.
