Let there be Light, the new mat light is a great addition to my Rigid line up. The 1500 Lumens make it easy to see imperfections in walls as you do sheet rock work and paint. But my favorite thing I like about it is its versatility. Not only using it on the job were electricity is sometimes hard to come by, but working on my cars. As you can see from the picture it lights up the whole engine compartment, i can use the magnets, hang it or lay it on the ground. The coverage is amazing, now I don't have to constantly move a flashlight all around. Great product, I would defiantly recommend it for all home owners and car enthusiast's.

Just received this light today. I wish I could leave two different reviews, one for the light and one for the power source/batter adapter.
I really like the light. It is really going to be great for working on things up close or in a tight space because the bright light cast is very diffused and the profile is so thin and flexible. It seems well made and I just hope that if it ever fails I will have no issues getting service through the LSA. I have many tools registered, but have not yet needed the service. As for durability, the most likely failure points I see are the permanently attached cord or the internal wiring that will be bent back and forth as it is rolled and unrolled for the umpteenth time.
On to what I dislike... the power source's USB port is only rated for 1 amp. That's 5 watts, which is a fairly slow USB charger by today's standards. My other RIDGID 18V USB power sources (purchased as standalone products and don't have the additional round side port that this light requires) output 2.1 amps via USB, which is what I reasonably expected in this new product. I feel this really limits the benefit of the USB port in this case. The light is a solid performer and if it is only going to be used as a light or one doesn't expect/need fast USB charging, then this won't be an issue.

Ok... so wow, 1,500 lumens is really, really bright! I think this is going to be perfect for lots of different applications around my shop and home, but I will say I definitely don't recommend staring directly at it when you first turn it on like I did! haha. My wife and I both let out a shout when we first turned it on in our darkened living room! I like that it has 3 settings (really intense, less intense, and not so intense) and I like that it is flexible and can be laid flat or placed standing up (like in photo below). I just used it in my attic to inspect some water damage and it was perfect for getting in awkward places. It can either be placed in the center of a work space to provide enough light to evenly see everything around you or placed right next to something for shining a bunch of light. I turned off all of the lights in my garage (no windows) and took 2 pictures below. The first is a picture is standing in front of the 18-volt LED Mat Light and the second is standing behind it to show you how much light it puts out in the garage. The only small complaint was that walking around an attic with tools, mat light, and battery all felt like a balancing act, but I will say that clipping the battery to the mat light helps it not feel as awkward when moving around.

I got this light for using underneath cars and trucks in the garage and also for around the house when you need light in unique areas. I was completely blown away by how bright the light itself is, but also how durable and well built it is. I dropped it off of a hook on the ceiling (it was hooked to a 5.0ah battery) and it didn't even flicker when it hit the floor. You can also fold it into a circular or square shape and light an entire room at all angles. Awesome tool for any work area!

This light is amazing!!! I've had it for just under a month and whether I'm on the job or in the cabinet shop, it is exceptionally functional! I never knew how attached I would be to this light until I started using it. It has become my go to light, way better than any other light on the market. It's light, durable and very bright! I was even impressed with the battery clip it came with, being able to attach a usb cable to charge your phone is a huge plus! Its great to place on the base of a cabinet while installing hinges, hang on the wall while painting or even put on the floor when sanding a unit. The light has three different brightness modes, I prefer the brightest. For someone who builds and finishes cabinets, this light is great to see imperfections up close. It also rolls up into a small roll with Velcro and packs into tight spaces for transportation. I can see myself getting another in the future, no complaints so far!

The light portion is great. However, very disappointed in the magnets, they are super weak, especially the top ones. They will not stay on any metal product, so the light can not be hung on a metal surface without using the hook on top. That totally defeats the purpose of being able to use this where no hooks exist to hang it. The product ad clearly shows the mat being hung by the magnets. Poor and false advertising. We kept it only because it puts out decent light, if we have a place to hang it. We buy a lot of Ridgid products, a whole lot, and this is the first time I have been disappointed with one of their products.
I do not recommend this light, unless you just need a light to hang up. Because not only do the magnets not work to hang, it also won't stand up as shown in the product description.

This may is a great source of light. Does run a 4 amp battery down in about 2 hours but works for the time that I need to use it. Will purchase a 9 amp battery for a longer run time. Other than that it will shed a lot of light in a nice size of area.
