The locking cuff on the shop vac telescoping wand twists, allowing for easy adjustments, locking and unlocking the wand’s position with a simple turn. How does the sliding mechanism for the tubes work. Few days after arriving mine is jammed shut and can't figure out how to remove ring without fear of breaking it to see what happened to it.

The 2 1/2" telescopic wand LA2518 has an orange color collar in between the wands that acts as the locking mechanism to let you retract or extend the wands depending on your desired length up to 48". The collar has a label which indicates if the wand is locked or unlocked. Before retracting or extending the wand, make sure that the collar is in unlocked position first. And, once you have achieved your desire length, make sure to put the collar in lock position before using the wand. You may remove the locking collar of the wand by putting the locking collar in the unlock position and pushing it towards the inlet or opening of the wand. With a little bit of force it should pop right off.
