Elevator37, thank you for your interest in the RIDGID RIDGID 6.5 Amp Corded 7 in. Table Top Wet Tile Saw with Stand, model number R4021SN.we would not advise using this saw to cut glass tile. This saw is designed to cut man-made tile, pavers, and stone tile products only. There is no way to lower the RPMs on this saw. If your tried to gut glass tile with this particular saw you would end up chipping your glass. Would this be able to cut a 48"x8" tile lengthwise?

Answers

Hello Louie, thank you for your interest in the RIDGID 6.5 Amp Corded 7 in. Table Top Wet Tile Saw with Stand model number R4021SN. The length of this tile saw's table top is 15in. from front to back. If you are cutting a tile that is 8in. by 48 in. lengthwise, you shouldn't have any issues. You might want to have a stand to catch the split tile at the beck end of the saw. Thank you for asking, If you have further questions and would like to speak with a RIDGID Customer Experience Professional, please call, 1-866-539-1710 Hope this helps! - Vini

Wet Tile Saw
I usually rent but for the price, and because a I several tile jobs to do around the house, I decided to buy. Overall, decent value for the money, it got the job done. Saw does easily chip tile at the very end of cuts, no matter how careful you are, which is annoying. I then flipped tiles over face down to cut and chips on corners were much less noticeable as damage is to the back of tile. I checked the trueness of the blade and there was no wabble, which can often cause chipping. The fence is not a great design, only clamps from the front grove with slight play in it but didn't affect the straightness of my cuts too much. If you can afford an overhead designed wet tile saw, they are much easier to use, quicker, and produce much nicer cuts.

Great Saw, Great Value
My contractor friend and expert tile installer came over to help me install some tile. I was expecting him to bring his huge "sliding table" tile saw, but showed up with this one. I'd never seen him use it before and asked about it. He explained he was on a job cutting glass tile, needed a fresh blade and ran over to Home Depot, saw this little one and thought it might work better for him so he bought it and immediately loved it. "I use it for everything now except very large tiles." I was doing the cutting and quickly agreed. First of all, the machine is light, so you can carry it just about anywhere. Second, the ruler/fence guide is delightfully precise and the fence is perfectly aligned and parallel with the blade (you can adjust alignment). Since I have a lot of tile to hang in this house, six months ago I bought my own (rather than borrow his all the time) and the only thing I wonder about is why Home Depot never asked me to review it. THIS IS A PERFECT HOME-OWNER SAW. It's well made but fairly inexpensive. It's also easy to clean as there are no pumps or hoses. Two things I don't like about it is first, that it sprays a fine mist at the person cutting and second, the reservoir's drain hole is in a bad spot and not at a lower point in the reservoir itself. I fixed the spray problem with a little board that I stand on the table between me and the blade (see image) and second, I stole one of my wife's cookie sheets, drilled a hole in one end slide it under the saw so when I open the drain, the water drains onto the cookie sheet and then into a bucket below. In the image, you can just see the back edge of the cookie sheet under the saw. Also note, I raise the saw up on 3/4" boards so the cookie sheet will fit underneath. If the table was two inches longer in front, it would be easier to cut sheeted tiles that currently hang over the front edge of the table when you start to cut. Ditto the back edge of the table but then, a larger table would cost more, make it heavier and harder to store and transport. I use very hot water on cold days and it's easy to drain, clean and refill so I can keep the water hot! Trust me, this is a very good saw.

Not sure about this saw. Haven't used it yet but out of the box the feet are not level. It rocks on my level workbench. The "bevel table" (also the lid to the water reservoir) is not flush! The bolt in the miter guide spins so you can't tighten it very much. (I could glue it in place) Maybe I got a lemon? Or maybe ridgid is like Samsung and Vizio and makes inferior products for black friday deals. But I'm sure with some practice it will cut just fine. I just expected a bit more from Ridgid. Every other Ridgid tool I've bought/used has been phenomenal. In the process of remodeling a bathroom and planned on renting a tile saw but when I walked into Home Depot and saw this for the price of a 2 day rental it was a no brainer.

The holding bar to square your tile doesn't align properly with the blade. There is 1/16" different from to back so you can't get a straight cut. The table is small and vibrates a lot causing my glass tiles to chip almost every one. I was using the special glass Ridgid blade.
