If so, use the recommended trowel size. 3/16x1/4x5/16 is different than a 3/16x1/4x1/2 trowel. To answer your questions, No this is not the same trowel size. I used it for floor adhesive under engineered flooring. The product I used specified a different size notch much like yours. It worked really well in my application. Big suggestion, the adhesive is very messy and sticky. Cover the trowel and handle with duct tape on both sides leaving just the notches exposed. Made clean up really easy
