All the right features to make knee-kicking less painful
Nothing good can be said about knee-kicking carpet installation - at least when you at an age where joints ache without extra stress... But Roberts makes it somewhat less painful with this Knee Kicker. We like the fact that you can adjust the length and the extra thick, but firm padding, both make usage a bit more comfortable Adjust the depth of the claws, such that it can never grip the underlayment - easily done with the large scale on top. The small brush-like pins will engage with the carpet and be careful retracting the kicker, such that it does not lift it out of the nail strip. I do enjoy the results for m this effort every time, beats glue-down in my opinion

            Super comfortable!
Wow! This knee kicker is so nice! It's very comfortable with the thick bumper pad! The length adjusts from 17-1/2" to 21-1/2". It's MANY great features include a non-slip hand grip, big and bold Pin depth numbers on the dial, wider head on gripper area, very easy trigger release to adjust length, and the higher contour neck permits use over a stretcher. This product also has a safety cover for the pin head. My daughters house had some water seepage into her basement carpet, and we had to remove an entire section of the carpet and replace with waterproof vinyl flooring. We needed a knee kicker to stretch the existing carpet to the new tack strip, and this deluxe knee kicker was perfect for that task! I'm really excited to use this again for my own carpet installation in my cottage bedroom! This is a great product and you don't have to be a professional to feel confident using this knee kicker!

Durable, adjustable, effective and well consructed
Review of Roberts Deluxe High Profile Carpet Knee Kicker with Extra Thick Bumper and Adjustable Length from 17.5 in. to 21.5 in. I had a challenging carpet project so I bought and used a High Profile Carpet Knee kicker made by Roberts to reinstall carpeting that had been installed in my basement since year 2000. The carpeting was high quality office carpeting that had been professionally installed. One day I discovered that the carpet was wet after a heavy storm and found the source of the water, a crack in the cement wall. I pulled the carpet back off the tack strip to air the carpet and floor out. The wall had a small crack at the top. I removed 2 4-foot sheets of drywall, repaired the wall inside and outside, installed 2 new sheets of drywall, plastered and painted the new portion of the wall and repainted the basement walls entirely. To deal with the carpeted floor I bought a three new tack strips and bought a padded, adjustable* knee kicker to properly install the carpet. The knee kicker can be adjusted from 17.5 inches to 21.5 inches. The knee kicker has three to four hundred short steel needles that grab the carpeting and about 100 or so 8 gauge steel needles that grab the carpeting and jute back. Together this collection of needles has a firm grip on the carpet. There were three things that I was concerned with. The carper was about 25 years old and I feared that the action of the knee kicker might rip the jute backed carpet and split it. The carpet remained strong and easily reattached itself to the newly installed tack strip. I was also concerned that since I had a knee replacement several years ago, the knee joint might suffer. My knee held up and appreciated the thick padding of the Knee Kicker and held up well. The carpet mounted itself to the tack strip just as I hoped it would. I searched and found that the kicker pad and needles are available to the Roberts website.

Roberts makes fine carpet tools that are very professional and top quality.
I picked up the Roberts Deluxe GT high profile carpet knee kicker with extra thick bumper. First thing I want to tell you about this carpet kicker is Robert's makes fine carpet tools that are very professional and top quality you cannot go wrong with their tools. The reason why I wanted to pick up one of these is I have carpet in my house has a little age on it and it has loosened up and has a couple of Buckles in it. So I wanted to stretch it and kick it back into place and that's where this tool shined. The Deluxe GT knee kicker worked flawlessly it gripped onto the carpet very well and stretched it right to the wall tight and then you trim the excess carpet this tool goes for about $100 but it's a lot cheaper than hiring somebody to come in to do it for you. The Roberts Deluxe GT knee kicker has outstanding features like it has 50% thicker pad for knee comfort and it has variable length adjustments from 17- 1/2 to 21- 1/2 and a non-slip hand grip for better control and a new wider head that is 16% larger area then older models. There's more features just too many to list. I also wanted to mention this knee kicker is Painted Black and the paint job on it is gorgeous they definitely take pride in their tools. This is absolutely a solid tool it works well and it makes the work very easy I recommend it 100% and give it five stars.

Great tool for easy carpet tacking
This kicker is mainly used for new carpet installation. I use it for retacking carpet that I had to pull up to run cables under the carpet along the tack strip. Previously without a kicker, the retacking process was tedious and never effective. With the kicker it is easy and quick to reattach carpet to the tack strip after running wires. Generally when you reattach carpet, use knee kicker to help you relay carpet down easily saving you a lot of time. Once you get used to using the kicker the job goes much faster. Positioning the Teeth of the kicker face down push the teeth down into the carpet about an inch away from the wall so the teeth won't hit the tack strip. Set the dial to the length of the teeth you want exposed. Push down on the kicker with your dominant hand and give the kicker a hard knee kick which will pull the carpet over the tack strip causing the carpet to stick to the tack strip.

            Heavy duty knee kicker
I ordered this carpet knee kicker because the carpet in my living room somehow got a ripple in it behind my favorite reclining chair. I got a quote from a carpet company to fix the ripple and it was a few hundred dollars so it was much more economical for me to get this knee kicker and do the job myself. I have never used a knee kicker before, but it was pretty intuitive to figure out, and in only 10 minutes I had the ripple completely gone (see photos). This knee kicker is built like a tank, no cheap plastic very heavy duty steel and a much appreciated heavy duty 3 inch kick bumper to protect your knee. The dial lets you extend and retract the barbs which are sharp, so watch your fingers. My only complaint is the protective cover over the barbs is a little loose and falls off easily. Overall, this is a great buy and I highly recommend it.

            Lay carpet like a Professional
The perfect tool to lay carpet like a professional. This is the fastest and most convenient way to ensure your carpet lays flat for years. If you fail to stretch carpet you will likely end up with loose carpet that will develop humps. To use this tool you simply place the spikes of the kicker in the carpet and knee the rubber pad. This forces any slack in the carpet out. You start at one side of the room working yourself to the opposite wall. The spikes in the tool can be raised or lowered to meet your carpets thickness. The body of the kicker extends for those taller individuals and also comes in handy as you get closer to the wall. One huge upgrade to this model over older models is the thickness of the kicking pad. It is twice as thick, which helps reduce impact on your knee. It is constructed of rigid aluminum and will last a lifetime. I highly recommend using this for a floor that looks professionally finished.

Excellent Ultra Heavy Duty Carpet Tool
This Roberts Knee Kicker is built for Stout!!! I noticed that just about all the carpet tools available for rent or purchase at Home Depot are from Roberts. A brand in business since 1937 which is very impressive and this model is beefy!!. It has a 3” extra thick knee bumper that my knees were very happy with after use. It's heavy and takes command of the carpet with the scariest set of carpet gripping teeth I've ever seen. The large spikes are easily adjusted to the depth of your carpet pile with a simple twist of a knob on top. For thin carpets you can fully retract them and just use to smaller nap teeth by themselves so the large teeth dont damage the subfloor. It is 22" long for comfortable ergonomic use along long walls and easily shortens to just 18" for tight corners or closet work with the push of a lever. It comes with a snap on cover to protect the teeth, and you, while storing. Replacement teeth and bumpers are even available if ever needed. I'm not a Pro so this unit will outlive me!!! It worked great pulling a few bumps out here and there in high traffic areas and on our stairs. Supper easy to use and in just a couple thrusts the bumps were gone. I’d highly recommend it and have noticed that my carpet installers all use Roberts equipment. Comes with a 1 year warranty too.
