          Answer This Question

I would recommend Comfortbatt our thermal batt for exterior walls. Its sized appropriately to fill the full cavity depth of the stud framing member and provide thermal value as well as some acoustic control. You can email us direct with more details of your wall assembly for further review. techservice@rockwool.com

Can this insulation work if the studs are built with 2x3’s? We renovating our house and I want them insulated but we also want to minimize any interior shrinkage on the walls (the renovations are within the exterior walls); so we’re considering 2x3’s.

Yes, this product should be able to fit the configuration. Rockwool Insulation has the ability to be cut with a knife that allows the product to be cut to space dimension needed.

Used this Rockwool soundproof insulation for a bedroom next to a rec room. Installation was much easier to handle vs traditional fiberglass, easy to cut, with a nice snug fit in standard 16" on center studs. Very happy with the end result and sound deadening in the room.

                        Acoustic absorption
Made sound absorption panels out of 3/4 plywood and this as the main filler. Working great. I don’t know what the professionals use; but would recommend this to absorb sound. To be clear; we have it exposed to the air behind a wool cloth stretched over our plywood frames. Unsure how it would handle between joists. If it’s anything like this though. I’m sure it’ll be good.

Disappointing quality, hard to work with
First bag was great, yellow color, rigid with straight corners and edges which pressed nicely into the stud bays. You could pick up a piece and lean it against a wall and it wouldn’t fold or bend. The next 3 bags were horrible. The bags look the same, and from the same store but inside the material was dark gray color. The gray stuff starts falling apart as soon as you handle them and is floppy like a blanket. If I had 4 bags of the yellow version it would be 5 stars, but the gray stuff is obviously cheaper quality and cost cutting.

Super easy to use, and works great!!
This stuff is awesome! The size makes them super easy to work with. I was able to do all 4 walls and the ceiling in a bathroom that we're remodeling in about an hour. When needed, they cut super easily with scissors or a knife, or can even just be ripped. You do have to be sorta gentle with it or it'll start to tear apart, but overall it was an incredibly easy job. There is a HUGE difference walking into that room from the hallway. It makes me want to redo the whole house in this stuff!

This insulation works good, but not as good as I spect, you can still hear the noise from upstairs, but is less than whiteout the insulation
