  • Can be removed from most masonry surfaces within 2 days after application
  • Self-priming, 1-coat process and is applied to a damp surface and sprayed off for a whitewash effect

Questions & Answers

Q:Once you apply the lime wash, and then you want to distress it, what do you do. Wipe it with a rag, spray it with the water hose or what?
by|May 7, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  There are many different ways to distress the product. Some may be more effective based on the look you want and how long the product has been drying. If you distress it within 30mins of applying (or once it starts to dry) it won't take much pressure so a rag or hose can work. After its dried well, you can use the same same tools it will just take a bit more pressure or elbow grease to get it off. Be sure to distress within the first 48hrs or it will be much more difficult. Go to romabio.com for videos of cloth distressing and hose distressing.

Q:Is there an expiration date on the lime wash? I have 1/2 gallon left from a previous project 4 years ago.

        1 Answer
        Answer This Question

A:  Classico Limewash has a pretty long shelf life it it's stored properly, undiluted and sealed well to prevent air from getting inside. You'll know the paint is no longer viable if there is any discoloration or odor. Healthy lime paints have virtually no odor.

Huge bang for your buck!! My fireplace went from a dark, heavy-looking red brick to a bright and stunning work of art in 4-5 hours. You can apply the limestone in a heavier manner thus giving a uniformly opaque look if you like. I instead chose to wipe some bricks/areas down to give a look of natural variance amongst the bricks. It is stunning! I wish I could upload a before/after pic to post. It looks like a $1500+ improvement (but only cost a fraction of that amount). I used the big can and have half left over (coverage: hearth to 8ft ceilings). Sooo simple to use. It took a week to arrive, so I used the extra time to brush down the dry brick w a stiff brush, then vac.

Hi Beto. We're sorry you're having a tough time with your brick. Brick is very absorbent and can wick moisture or retain vapor residues, such as oils or tannins. Manganese is probably the most common stain on brick because it happens at the manufacturing stage when the bricks are exposed to acid during production. Unfortunately, this outcome is tough to see on raw brick or stone and can’t be predicted before or during the application of any paint product. We do have solution in cases where this happens.
