Hi! Classico Limewash can be applied to interior brick as long as it's absorbent. If it's being applied to interior drywall, a coat of MicroGrip Primer is needed as a base coat to ensure the product can adhere. However, we recommend out Velatura Mineralwash for limewash looks on interior drywall.
If the surface has already been painted, it is likely unabsorbent and requires MicroGrip Primer as a base coat before Classico Limewash could be applied. This ensures the limewash has a proper mineral base to adhere to. Because Classico Limewash can't be distressed when applied over primer, it would need to be applied for full coverage. You may consider Masonry Flat as an alternative, as it's formulated for full coverage projects, while providing a long-lasting, durable finish. It can be tinted to all the same colors as Classico Limewash, and more!
Unfortunately, none of our products are formulated to repair damaged brick. We recommend reaching out to a mason for this matter. However, our Classico Limewash, Lime Slurry, and Venetian Glaze are all mineral paints formulated for absorbent stone/brick. I hope this helps!
Hi! Classico Limewash can be tinted to light to medium-light colors, as dark as our Nube Gray - see https://www.homedepot.com/p/ROMABIO-1-qt-Nube-Gray-Limewash-Interior-Exterior-Paint-10114/303053854. For darker colors, you may consider Masonry Flat for color transformation, or Venetian Glaze for semi-transparent color shifting effects.
No. They are not the same.
You would need to clean the brick thoroughly before applying the product. It is worth noting that brick that old will have absorbed a lot of minerals and pollutants over the years. They may bleed through any paint you apply, but it typically happens faster with mineral paints. If that happens, you should reach out to the team at info@romabio.com and they can explain how to spot treat those areas.
There is no difference. The fireplace kit just includes some items, such as the brush to help the project. You can purchase the Romabio Masonry Brush separately if you prefer. Always test the surface with water to be sure it can absorb it. If your surface can't absorb water readily, it won't hold the limewash either so that is the first step. If it can, dilute Classico Limewash 50% to 100% with clean water (1 part limewash to between 1/2 and 1 part water). The less water, the fuller the coverage. Then distress the areas you'd like to see the brick come thru. Contact us at info@romabio.com if you need more help.
The product works on raw natural brick only. It can't stick to any kind of synthetic materials without MicroGrip primer or another mineral-based primer.
