About This Product
Romabio Classico Limewash is an authentic, slaked-lime paint that is specially formulated to create unique white wash effects for Interior and Exterior unpainted brick, stone and other masonry surfaces. This Limewash paint is easily applied as a 1-coat process to a damp surface and is washed off with a garden hose or spray water bottle to create an antique lime wash finish equal to the look in historic Europe. Unlike German Schmear technique using mortar, this paint is breathable, high UV-resistant, and will continue to calcify and harden over the years and will not peel or chip off as it is designed for durability for the exterior.

Questions & Answers
Are there sample sizes? Also if I test an area and don’t like it can this be painted over with regular exterior paint?
Our Classico Limewash is available in sizes as small as 1 liter! It can usually be washed off in the first 24-48 hours without issue. If you choose to paint over it at a later date, you would just need to follow the paint manufacturer's directions for painting on masonry.
Can it be used on cinder blocks? If so, what sealant should be used before whitewash?
We recommend using MicroGrip Primer as a base coat before using our mineral paints on cinderblocks. Because this primer is an opaque white, you'll be painting for full coverage. In this scenario, Masonry Flat would be a better option.

Can this be used on Terracotta tile fireplace
Classico Limewash is formulated for use on absorbent stone and brick. If it is an absorbent, mineral tile, Classico Limewash MAY be able to adhere to it. However, we do not recommend the product for tile. We suggest looking into a product specifically meant for tile application. We hope this helps!
My current wood burning fireplace was painted white. Can I use this product over the current white paint? Will it have the same effect?
Classico Limewash is made for absorbent masonry surfaces. It will not stick to latex or acrylic paints. If your fireplace brick or stone has already been painted, you would need to use a mineral based primer first (Romabio MicroGrip) and then you could apply the Romabio lime or mineral paint of your choice. But in that case a full coverage paint such as Romabio Masonry Flat would be much more practical.
Can you use it on faux stone
Hi Linda, Our paints are formulated for use on absorbent, natural mineral surfaces. We don't recommend them for faux stone. Our MicroGrip Primer can be used as a base coat when painting on faux stone, but please note that this would mean your Classico Limewash would need to be painted for full coverage. I hope this helps!
Can I use this on ceramic tile/backsplash
Hi! Classico Limewash is not recommended for ceramic or tile. Unfortunately, Romabio does not offer a product suitable for it. We recommend looking into a product specifically made for this surface type. We hope this helps!
Can this product be used on new, unprimed sheetrock interior walls and already painted interior walls?
No. This is a masonry paint. If necessary, applying this to any interior walls would require our MicroGrip primer. But for interior limewash effects we would highly recommend our Velatura Mineralwash, which would not require a primer.
