Really satisfy with this little guy
I do ornamental jobs and constantly need to drill holes on metal plates. This little guy drills small size holes like butter. I can drill 3/8” holes on a 1/4” steel plate with no issues. The cross laser line is very accurate and very useful to me. The work base is also very steady. No vibration at all and it is very quiet as well. If I need to drill on thick plate I use some kind of coolant/lubricant and get the job done. For 1/2” holes I usually pre-drill a pilot hole. I use it a lot and have no complaints. For DIY projects this is the right tool. (Price and performance).

chuck key plastic holder no good
have used for two months now the only thing i need to do is make a larger templet to hold parts for drilling, the plate is strong so should not have any problem mounting the jig im making, chuck key holder broke first day very cheep plastic , replaced with a magnet now its great for holding chuck, very easy to put together and works great no problems at all , found i like one handle instead of three others gust get in my way the far one rotates one stroke perfect for me. was told the stop ring for cut depth was plastic and brakes i have no problem with it but i don't try an force it at end of stroke maybe thats the problem with some users , over all i would buy this press again in a heart beat.

the machine is working fine, but the bracket that stops it when pressing down to drill, broke so It can't be stopped anymore where you need it. The bracket was made out of plastic and it should be made out of steel. I will appreciate if you will replace that piece, but for now I have to live with it, because I am using the machine and I don't want to return it.

      Quality drill press
If you're looking for a quality drill press with a budget look no further. The ryobi drill press works flawlessly in hardwoods. I have bored 3" holes in solid maple with mine and no issues. Great tool for someone just starting out in wood working

I am a woman and needed to drill straight holes for doll rods. At first I was looking for a drill guide, something simple and cheap. While I was in Home Depot I found they only sold them online. When looked around at the Drill Press and thought, I could really create a lot of projects out of the Drill press, so I bit the bullet and bought it. I put it together easily and away I went to work. It wasn't that heavy to lift and took it down to the work room. I made a great purchase and it's my first MAN TOOL that is WOMAN friendly.

Table too small for common accessories.
This drill press is very limited in what you can do without extensive modifications to it. If you plan on using a drill press vise, or cross slide vise, most of them won't even fit its tiny table.

I'm sure this is a perfectly fine drill press and will accommodate your basic drill pressing needs in most circumstances. I purchased this item, drilled three basic holes in some pine before the depth stop broke to the point of uselessness. I can function without a depth stop and was going to overlook the poor judgement in using plastic on a piece of the drill that is obviously not well suited for the stresses it will be subjected to. I decided to move on to my next project which required me to pivot the work table 45 degrees. All I needed to do was loosen the bolt to make the adjustment. Only, there is another small bolt with a nut on it in the way, preventing me from being able to get a reasonable grip on the bolt to loosen it up and make the adjustment. Honestly, I can't imagine why that small bolt needed to be placed in the most inconvenient spot. And I can imagine a few ways this thing could have been designed that would lock the table in place that would not require another tool to make what should be a basic and simple adjustment to the work surface of the press. This is lazy engineering. For the record, I have other Ryobi brand tools in my workshop and are perfectly happy with them. I boxed it back up and took it back to HD an hour after I had it set up.

I bought this drill press to use mainly in my luthier work, but I am also an all around craftsman, so have found many other uses for it already, such as with some antique furniture pieces that I needed to finish work on, and building a custom device to hold vintage parlor guitars during repairs. I found the drill press well packed in it's carton, and it was easy to set up and put together (I watched a YouTube video prior to setting it up, which made putting it together correctly very simple). The included instructions were poor. The drill press has plenty of power for the home craftsman, is portable enough that you can put it up on the workbench when you need it and store it elsewhere when not in use. The laser is great, I really like that, and it was very accurate right out of the box. I also like the lamp, which shines directly where you are working. The table raises and lowers easily, and locks firmly in place when you get it where you want it. Overall, for the price, this is a very good buy and will work just fine for me with any kind of drilling that I can throw at it. Haven't tried it with metal yet, but it bores through hard wood easily, so metal should be no problem either. I have had Ryobi tools for decades now, and I really like their products. They make decent tools at a decent price.

This is a well made drill press. Machining and packaging are very good. The laser and LED lights are nicely implemented, and convenient to use. The over-sized motor is quiet, as is the machine itself. A few minor nits keep this from being a five star item: The instructions are a bit sparse and lack useful illustrations, and in some cases, important details, for example, clear instructions on adjusting the laser alignment. And the laser on my unit did need a slight adjustment. The other issue was, the belt came set on the lowest pulley position and slowest speed. On this setting, the belt tensioner had no more travel. I could not get the belt off. I had to remove the motor pulley to get the belt off. Once that was done and the belt set on the middle speed, the tensioner had some available travel. Overall, quality for the dollars spent is exceptional.

I needed a benchtop drill press for small project work and had trouble deciding on which one. It so happens I have a lot of Ryobi tools and have been very happy with them. I also did not want to spend a lot of money. I buy most of my tools from Home Depot and this one had a good price point. Assembly of the stand was not easy; I had a terrible time getting the retaining ring off the pole and back on after adding the table. Changing the speed via the belt drive was also very difficult; it may get easier with time and practice. The laser works but doesn't seem all that accurate but does help to position the work piece. The LED light is very helpful. Overall, I'm very satisfied and would recommend it for anyone needing a small, easy to store away sized drill press.

Quill was wobbly out of the box. Tried to adjust the set screw but it couldn't be tightened or loosened without fear of snapping it - likely cross-threaded. Lowering the quill revealed damage on both sides of the guide slot. Seems like a poor design having a set screw instead of something that actually fits the slot. Sure glad HD has a no hassle return policy.

                  Great Drill Press
I'm a retired welder/mechanic, I set up a shop in my garage to do small fabrication and repair jobs. I needed a drill press that would push a 1/2" drill bit through steel. I had a poor quality drill press that wouldn't push a 1/4" drill bit through steel, so I was extremely impressed that I could drill, not only a 1/2" hole but a 11/16" hole with this drill press. It's close to the drill presses that I've used in various production shops over the years. Great value at $130.00. Worth every penny and then some.

Good Value in it's price class
This is a solid drill press, and it is relatively easy to change speeds. It is not a suitable press for a shop class or commercial wood shop, but it is more than sufficient for what I think it's intended to be. It has no wobble and drives consistent holes. I have only used it on wood so far so can't rate it based on metal or other materials. If you use a regular bit you can get some drill bit walking but if you use brad point or spade bits, it is 100% accurate. So as the title says I think this is a pretty good value in it's price class, which let's say is $115-$145. And here is why in my opinion... - I have found the laser guide and LED light to be beneficial. For me the laser guide lines up directly where the bit goes. Only negative is once you get near the end of the drill bit, it blocks the guide so if you have a tall/thick piece that is close to the bit before pressing the laser will be useless, you need about an inch and a half below the bottom of the bit so see the "X" - You have 3 others on the HD site with similar features and cost (roughly $5-$15 cheaper). But at 62 lbs. it is one of, if not the heaviest one by 10 pounds. That to me is a plus especially since a lot of that weight is from the base which adds to stability. - Next is it's available in most stores, where the other 3 are online orders only, once you put a 50-60 pound tool in the mail, who knows what's going to happen and in fact several negative reviews (of all presses) relate arriving damaged. -Finally, whether or not you like Ryobi, you know they will be at HD for the long haul and with a 3 year warranty (others in this class are 3,2 and 2) returns/replacements will be relatively hassle free. So do I think this is the best drill press ever made, or even the best 10 in press ever made? No, but for what it is its good, probably the same as the other 3 in it's class but the added convenience picking it up/seeing it in store (and easily returning/exchanging if need be) is worth the extra $15.

                  worked for me
needed a drill press to make 3/8" mohagany plugs. this was the only one in home depot. easy assembly, the adjustment to lower & rise the table is kind of cheesy but the table itself when set in place is solid without any movement. it drilled the plugs through hardwood just fine. For $130.00 its great, if your looking for a beast tool, open up your wallet & buy one.

This Model Received a Major Upgrade
My table top drill press died in the middle of a project. I needed a replacement ASAP but was very concerned about this unit only being advertised as 3 amp. That is definitely too low for cutting 35mm hinge cups into white birch. Well, when I got to the store, I found that this model is now 6.2 amps. It cut through the white birch like it was butter. Where can you find a 6.2 amp motor on a drill press for $129? No where I found.

                    Broken plastic depth gauge collar
Upon assembly I found that the plastic collar that clamps around the chuck holder was broken. I don't blame Home Depot, I blame UPS and / or what ever other company shipped it as it had a dent on the box and one broken white plastic strap that goes around the box. I decided to assemble it anyway as I need it for a project that is important. I called the customer support line for help and they said I could return it to the nearest store but I need it now and I am disabled so dis-assembly and reassembly is difficult for me. They say it's a new model so they don't have any parts yet and that I should call again in a month or so to see if they have any then. I decided to use it without the depth gauge and call in a month. That plastic part should be made out of a different material or reinforced or packaged separately. Other than that I like this drill press. Locating the switches on the front panel is PERFECT. Very easy to use with Arthritic hands. Oh, and I love the intersecting lasers for locating the drill. Works great!

Wasted my time buying, assembling, returning.
Didn't even work. Lights, laser, but no motor. The castings are very rough, and in particular the table-height mechanism is crunchy. Because it was so junky overall, I didn't even want to try a replacement unit. HD, as always, is good about returns.
